Simultaneously recovering potentials and embedded obstacles for anisotropic fractional Schrödinger operators

2017

Let \begin{document}$A∈{\rm{Sym}}(n× n)$\end{document} be an elliptic 2-tensor. Consider the anisotropic fractional Schrodinger operator \begin{document}$\mathscr{L}_A^s+q$\end{document} , where \begin{document}$\mathscr{L}_A^s: = (-\nabla·(A(x)\nabla))^s$\end{document} , \begin{document}$s∈ (0, 1)$\end{document} and \begin{document}$q∈ L^∞$\end{document} . We are concerned with the simultaneous recovery of \begin{document}$q$\end{document} and possibly embedded soft or hard obstacles inside \begin{document}$q$\end{document} by the exterior Dirichlet-to-Neumann (DtN) map outside a bounded domain \begin{document}$Ω$\end{document} associated with \begin{document}$\mathscr{L}_A^s+q$\end{docume…

Cosmic magnetic fields with masclet: an application to galaxy clusters

2020

We describe and test a new version of the adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) cosmological code MASCLET. The new version of the code includes all the ingredients of its previous version plus a description of the evolution of the magnetic field under the approximation of the ideal magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD). To preserve the divergence-free condition of MHD, the original divergence cleaning algorithm of Dedner et al. (2002) is implemented. We present a set of well-known 1D and 2D tests, such as several shock-tube problems, the fast rotor and the Orszag-Tang vortex. The performance of the code in all the tests is excellent with estimated median relative errors of $\nabla \cdot {\bf B}$ in the 2D t…

Hund's Rules and Spin Density Waves in Quantum Dots

1997

Spin density functional theory is used to calculate the ground state electronic structures of circular parabolic quantum dots. We find that such dots either have a spin configuration determined by Hund's rule or make a spin-density-wave-like state with zero total spin. The dependence of the spin-density-wave amplitudes on the density of the two-dimensional electron gas is studied.

Toward a Political Theory of the Sublime

2018

In this chapter, the author develops a topic undertheorized in Bourdieu’s work: physical violence. He presents the key points of an esthetic theory of the sublime and develops an alternative theory of the sublime, which draws on structural constructivism and Taoist political theory. In contrast to an esthetic theory of the sublime that automatically attributes to exceptional and violent physical actions ontological superiority and performative efficiency compared to the ‘weak’ routines of the ontic Lebenswelt, in a structural constructivist theory the key to the sublime as a defining moment of politics can be found in the links between physical events and symbolic structures. According to t…

Psychosis, symbol, affectivity 1: etiopathogenesis and treatment through analytical psychology

2021

This is the first of two papers concerning our study into an integrated approach to psychotic disorders, conducted at the University of Palermo's Psychiatry Unit Polyclinic over approximately 15 years. Here we will explore and reflect upon the acute psychotic condition mainly from a theoretical and conceptual perspective, while in the second paper we will explore the clinical perspective. From the point of view of psychopathology, and in the light of C.G. Jung's conceptualization of analytical psychology, as well as calling on contributions from other authors from the systemic-relational and post-psychoanalytic field, we will clarify the ideas developed over these last few years by our team…

Superconductive and insulating inclusions for linear and non-linear conductivity equations

2015

We detect an inclusion with infinite conductivity from boundary measurements represented by the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map for the conductivity equation. We use both the enclosure method and the probe method. We use the enclosure method to prove partial results when the underlying equation is the quasilinear $p$-Laplace equation. Further, we rigorously treat the forward problem for the partial differential equation $\operatorname{div}(\sigma\lvert\nabla u\rvert^{p-2}\nabla u)=0$ where the measurable conductivity $\sigma\colon\Omega\to[0,\infty]$ is zero or infinity in large sets and $1<p<\infty$.

Superstable cycles for antiferromagnetic Q-state Potts and three-site interaction Ising models on recursive lattices

2013

We consider the superstable cycles of the Q-state Potts (QSP) and the three-site interaction antiferromagnetic Ising (TSAI) models on recursive lattices. The rational mappings describing the models' statistical properties are obtained via the recurrence relation technique. We provide analytical solutions for the superstable cycles of the second order for both models. A particular attention is devoted to the period three window. Here we present an exact result for the third order superstable orbit for the QSP and a numerical solution for the TSAI model. Additionally, we point out a non-trivial connection between bifurcations and superstability: in some regions of parameters a superstable cyc…

Analytic Bergman operators in the semiclassical limit

2018

Transposing the Berezin quantization into the setting of analytic microlocal analysis, we construct approximate semiclassical Bergman projections on weighted $L^2$ spaces with analytic weights, and show that their kernel functions admit an asymptotic expansion in the class of analytic symbols. As a corollary, we obtain new estimates for asymptotic expansions of the Bergman kernel on $\mathbb{C}^n$ and for high powers of ample holomorphic line bundles over compact complex manifolds.

Transverstites re-existences: A counterhistory from the visual difference in Peru

2018
