Validation study of an evaluation scale of ‘perceived social justice’ in the primary and secondary education

2018

Solid state ionics and optical materials technology for energy efficiency, solar energy conversion, and environment control

1991

The fundamental electronic properties (including optical) of a solid are determined by the character of the interaction between its ionic and electronic subsystems. The state of the ionic subsystem can be changed persistently and reversibly by an external stimulus (current, light). The pertinent ion-controlled phenomena in the solids (solid electrolytes or mixed conductors) causes the ions to be inserted, extracted, transferred, or absorbed or transforms the states of the ions by redox reactions in the bulk or on the surface of the solid or on the interface of a (laminar or planar) solid ionic heterosystem. Several functions can be accomplished: (1) the optical response function of the soli…

Towards a Deep Integration of Socio-Economic Action and Spatial Planning

2012

It is now time to recognize that self-organizing socio-economic actors can and must act directly on the pursuit of territorial development and cohesion or, in other words, that the broadest possible number of socio-economic actors must be involved, to this end, in co-creating products, services and innovative content. ICTs can greatly help to go forward in this direction, allowing the merging of regulation, implementation of policies and spontaneous transformation, thanks to their interactivity and their potential of diffusion of “usable knowledge” (Lindblom and Cohen, 1979). The proposed approach relies on the notion of Living Labs (LLs), or better on that of “Territorial Living Labs” (TLL…

Covariant Operator Formalism for Quantized Superfields

1988

The Takahashi-Umezawa method of deriving the free covariant quantization relations from the linear equations of motion is extended to superfields. The Cauchy problem for free superfields is solved, and an expression for the time independent scalar product is given. For the case of interacting fields, we give the general Kallen-Lehmann spectral representation for the two-point superfield Green functions and, after the introduction of the asymptotic condition for superfields, we give the superfield extension of the Yang-Feldman equation. The case of the D = 2 real scalar superfield and the case of the D = 4 chiral superfield are discussed in detail.

A dynamic business modelling approach to design and experiment new business venture strategies

2018

Abstract Business Modelling has evolved as a key activity to reflect new business venture strategy by framing the way a firm will operate and how it will function in achieving its goals (e.g., profitability, growth, innovation, social impact). However, scholars and practitioners have criticized the adoption of a too static perspective in the design and use of conventional Business Model representations. Such a static perspective prevents nascent entrepreneurs experimenting with their Business Models and, as a result, identifying the most effective strategies, especially in terms of business sustainability and profitability. In this paper, we argue that combining conventional Business Model …

Quasi diabatic CASSCF state functions

2002

A new method to determine quasi diabatic (QD) CASSCF states is presented. The adiabatic states are subjected to a unitary transformation resulting from diagonalization of a state-selection operator. The latter is constructed from the overlap of the adiabatic states with a suitable set of reference states. The multi-state (MS) CASPT2 method is used to account for the dynamical correlation effects in an approach where the QD-CASSCF wave functions are used as reference states. The procedure is applied to avoided crossings in excited states of BeH, LiO and ozone. The advantages of the proposed formulation are discussed.

Forecasting time series with missing data using Holt's model

2009

This paper deals with the prediction of time series with missing data using an alternative formulation for Holt's model with additive errors. This formulation simplifies both the calculus of maximum likelihood estimators of all the unknowns in the model and the calculus of point forecasts. In the presence of missing data, the EM algorithm is used to obtain maximum likelihood estimates and point forecasts. Based on this application we propose a leave-one-out algorithm for the data transformation selection problem which allows us to analyse Holt's model with multiplicative errors. Some numerical results show the performance of these procedures for obtaining robust forecasts.

The asymptotic covariance matrix of the Oja median

2003

The Oja median, based on a sample of multivariate data, is an affine equivariant estimate of the centre of the distribution. It reduces to the sample median in one dimension and has several nice robustness and efficiency properties. We develop different representations of its asymptotic variance and discuss ways to estimate this quantity. We consider symmetric multivariate models and also the more narrow elliptical models. A small simulation study is included to compare finite sample results to the asymptotic formulas.

Inference based on the affine invariant multivariate Mann–Whitney–Wilcoxon statistic

2003

A new affine invariant multivariate analogue of the two-sample Mann–Whitney–Wilcoxon test based on the Oja criterion function is introduced. The associated affine equivariant estimate of shift, the multivariate Hodges-Lehmann estimate, is also considered. Asymptotic theory is developed to provide approximations for null distribution as well as for a sequence of contiguous alternatives to consider limiting efficiencies of the test and estimate. The theory is illustrated by an example. Hettmansperger et al. [9] considered alternative slightly different affine invariant extensions also based on the Oja criterion. The methods proposed in this paper are computationally more intensive, but surpri…

Holt–Winters Forecasting: An Alternative Formulation Applied to UK Air Passenger Data

2007

Abstract This paper provides a formulation for the additive Holt–Winters forecasting procedure that simplifies both obtaining maximum likelihood estimates of all unknowns, smoothing parameters and initial conditions, and the computation of point forecasts and reliable predictive intervals. The stochastic component of the model is introduced by means of additive, uncorrelated, homoscedastic and Normal errors, and then the joint distribution of the data vector, a multivariate Normal distribution, is obtained. In the case where a data transformation was used to improve the fit of the model, cumulative forecasts are obtained here using a Monte-Carlo approximation. This paper describes the metho…
