The difficulty of applying exclusion criteria in ethical portfolios

A main problem for socially responsible investors is deciding which companies should be included in their investment portfolio. Small investors may decide not to invest in companies they know are not behaving responsibly. Therefore, discredited companies will not be included in their portfolios, as they will understand those companies cannot be defined as ethical. To implement this procedure properly and apply it to big portfolios is a complex exercise which requires big amounts of information and the problems faced by investors applying such exclusion criteria to select their portfolio.

To write is a complex, delicate and intense act. The goal of this study has been to find out what the process of creative writing looks like when viewed through the concepts of ritual and play. I have engaged with creative writing research, research on ritual and play, and new materialist philosophy. Research data has been formed by ethnographic methods in a writing group as well as my own creative work. I have applied ritual and play to create writing prompts and creative writing methods. Fan fiction offers rich data to explore readers’ understanding of gendered discourses informing the narrative construction of fictional and real-life identities. This paper focuses on gender identity construction in self-insertion fan fiction texts – stories that involve avatars of fan writers – based on Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels. This paper takes into consideration the interconnections between, food, sexuality and spirituality which constitute the core of Michèle Roberts's novel Impossible Saints. We shall be focusing on the process of cannibalization of women's bodies, considering the term both in a metaphorical and in a literal sense with relation to the stories told in the novel. We shall examine the relationship between Roberts's "new" saints and food and the desecratory, macabre representations that the author offers of the sacred meal.
