After primary bladder closure or urinary diversion, other factors apart from the reconstruction itself gain importance for individuals with the exstrophy-epispadias complex: social integration and, after reaching puberty, sexuality and fertility. Between 1968 and July 1994 115 patients with bladder exstrophy or incontinent epispadias underwent surgery at our institution. A total of 104 patients could be followed, 2 of whom died in the meantime. Of the remaining 102 patients 48 attend school, 4 are in college, 40 have completed or are currently undergoing vocational training, 3 are unemployed, 1 lives in a therapeutic centre and 6 are younger than 6 years of age. The presence of a woman increases testosterone in aggressive dominant men

In line with the challenge hypothesis, this study investigated the effects of the presence of a woman on the testosterone (T) levels of young men. An informal contact with a woman of approximately 5 min resulted in an increase in salivary T among men. These effects occurred particularly in men with an aggressive dominant personality. In addition, higher salivary T levels were related to a more aggressively dominant personality, being sexual inactive for a month or more, and not being involved in a committed, romantic relationship. Desired adjustment of methadone dose, perceived participation in dosage regulation, and satisfaction with methadone treatment centres were assessed in a sample of opioid-dependent patients from the Valencia Region (eastern Spain). An independent interviewer asked 278 consecutively arriving patients to answer the survey, and 165 (59.4%) completed it. Adjustment of methadone dose was assessed with a -10 to +10 visual analogue scale (VAS-MD); participation in methadone dose regulation, with specific questions; and patient satisfaction, with the Verona Service Satisfaction Scale for methadone treatment (VSSS-MT).
