Abstract A key topic regarding Ti Ni Shape Memory materials concerns the possibility to attain welded junctions that preserves the shape memory properties of material. Other research topic for SMAs regards the retention of the shape memory effect cyclic stability; in fact, good shape memory properties frequently decrease during SME cycling of material. A method able to improve the cyclic stability of TiNi shape memory effect is the grain refinement. Die Wirksamkeit der organischen Bisphosphonsauren als Inhibitoren der Korrosion von Eisen ist dadurch bedingt, das die aus der Eisenoberflache auftretenden Fe2+-Ionen direkt am Austrittsort mit den Sauren reagieren und an Ort und Stelle dreidimensional vernetzte Deckschichten aufbauen. Je dichter die Struktur dieser Schichten, je bestandiger das Netzwerk gegen Sauerstoff und je hydrolysebestandiger die FeOP-Bindungen, desto besser ist die Schutzwirkung: Dadurch wird sowohl dem Sauerstoff als auch dem Chloridion der Zugang zur Metalloberflache verwehrt. Inhibitoren der Korrosion 19 (1). Autoxidationsstudien an Fe2+-Trimethylen-1,3-bis-phosphonat als Modell einer die Korrosion inhibierenden Deckschicht

Die Autoxidationsgeschwindigkeit der Fe2+. Salze ist stark abhangig vom pH und ist bei pH 2 praktisch gleich Null, bei pH 5–7 sehr hoch. Durch Zusatz von Trimethylen-1,3-bis-phosphonsaure wird die Autoxidation etwas verlangsamt und der Sauerstoffverbrauch starker erhoht als es der Stochiometrie der Fe2+-Oxidation entspricht. Dieser Umstand erklart sich durch den oxidativen Abbau der Trimethylen-1,3-bis-phosphonsaure zu Phosphorsaure, wobei Salze des dreiwertigen Eisens als Niederschlag ausfallen. The azido ligand: a useful tool in designing chain compounds exhibiting alternating ferro- and antiferro-magnetic interactions

A one-pot reaction of NiII 1, CoII 2, FeII 3 and MnII 4 with 2,2A-bipyridine (bipy) and azide in water leads to [M(bipy)(N3)2]n chains where the metal ion is alternatively bridged by double end-on (EO) and end-to-end (EE) azido bridges; theoretical analysis of the variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility data of 1 and 4 reveals the occurrence of intrachain alternating ferro- (through EO) and antiferro-magnetic (through EE) interactions. High-performing Sn-Co nanowire electrodes as anodes for lithium-ion batteries

Abstract The preparation of Sn 2 Co 3 nanowire arrays (NWs) electrogrown inside the channels of polycarbonate membranes and their characterization as anodes for Li-ion batteries both in half-cell vs. Li and in battery configuration are reported. The Sn 2 Co 3 NW electrodes tested by deep galvanostatic charge/discharge cycles in ethylene carbonate-dimethylcarbonate (1:1) – LiPF 6 1 M displayed 80% capacity retention after 200 cycles at C/2 and 30 °C, and a high charge and discharge rate capability at C-rate from C/3 (0.33 A/g) to 10C (10 A/g) at 30° and 10 °C. Toward Tin-Based High-Capacity Anode for Lithium-Ion Battery

Electrochemical deposition of SnCo alloys inside the nanometric pores of commercial membranes is described. Composition, morphology and crystallographic structure of the synthesized nanostructured alloys are reported as well as the results of electrochemical tests carried out both in half-cell and in full battery configuration to investigate the performance of these SnCo alloys as anodes for lithium-ion batteries. Optimized depositions yielded nanostructured alloys that performed 200 deep galvanostatic cycles at C/2 and 30 °C with 80 % capacity retention and coulombic efficiency higher than 97 % after 40 cycles Moreover, charge-discharge rate capability tests showed the high performance of …

Stiffness and strength of composite truss beam to R.C. column connection in MRFs

Abstract The results of experimental and numerical investigations on the cyclic behavior of composite truss beam to reinforced concrete column connection of moment resisting frames are reported. The beams are constituted by a steel truss and end zone added rebar embedded within a concrete block cast in place, so that, after curing, the steel truss and the added rebar work together with the concrete matrix as reinforcement of the composite beam. Acene-type donors bearing one 1,3-dithiole ring

Abstract A series of acene-type donors bearing only one 1,3-dithiole ring have been synthesized by following a Wittig-Horner reaction from 7 H -benz[ d,e ]anthracen-7-one and several phosphonate esters. The excellent donor properties have been studied using both experimental techniques and quantum-chemical calculations and reveal that the extraction of the first electron in the oxidation process occurs from the dithiole ring (0.42 e) and the acene unit (0.58 e).

Synthesis and properties of an Au6 cluster supported by a mixed N-heterocyclic carbene–thiolate ligand

The preparation of a novel Au6 cluster bearing a bidentate mixed carbene–thiolate ligand is presented. The length of linker between the central benzimidazole and thiolate has a strong effect on the formation of cluster products, with a C2 chain giving an Au6 cluster, while a C3 chain results in no evidence of cluster formation. Density functional theory analysis predicts a non-metallic cluster with a large HOMO–LUMO (3.2–3.6 eV) and optical gap.
