Absorption spectrum of the f(A1g) ← X(Eg), a(F2g) electronic transition of OsF6

1997

Abstract The absorption spectrum of the visible band of OsF 6 has been recorded using a commercial spectrophotometer. The first vibronic assignments for this band have been realized using the analogy with the d ← X transition of IrF 6 . Some vibronic parameter values are derived.

Low-energy decay pathways of doubly charged silver clusters $Ag_{n}^{2+}$ (n = 9 - 24)

1997

The low-energy dissociation channels of mass selected silver cluster ions Ag n 2+ (n = 9–24) are determined by collision induced dissociation (CID) in a Penning trap. While all clusters of the size n ≥ 17 evaporate neutral monomers, most smaller clusters undergo asymmetric fission of the form Ag n 2+ → Ag −3 + + Ag {3} + . However, Ag 15 2+ and Ag 11 2+ emit monomers which indicates shell or odd-even effects. The observed fragmentation pathways are different from previous reports of measurements with sputtered Ag n 2+ .

Interactions of different hydrocolloids with milk proteins

2020

Abstract To control rheological properties and accomplish perfect sensory properties and mouthfeel, polysaccharides are added to milk-based beverages. However, in contrast to expectations, it is often found that adding low concentrations of xanthan gum or guar gum to milk provokes phase separations of unclear physical origin. From this observation, questions arise regarding the interaction of added polysaccharides and the proteins present in milk – caseins and whey proteins. The focus of this study is to investigate such systems and to understand the basic interactions of caseins and whey proteins with different hydrocolloids. The hydrocolloids used in this study are xanthan gum, guar gum, …

Rotational spectra of isotopic species of silyl fluoride. Part II: theoretical and empirical equilibrium structure

2010

Abstract The equilibrium structure of silyl fluoride, SiH 3 F, has been reinvestigated using both theoretical and experimental data. With respect to the former, quantum-chemical calculations at the coupled-cluster level have been employed together with extrapolation to the basis set limit, consideration of higher excitations in the cluster operator, and inclusion of core correlation as well as relativistic corrections ( r (Si–F) = 1.5911 A, r (Si–H) = 1.4695 A, and ∠FSiH = 108.30°). A semi-experimental equilibrium structure has been determined based on the available rotational constants for the various isotopic species of silyl fluoride ( 28 SiH 3 F, 28 SiD 3 F, 29 SiH 3 F, 29 SiD 3 F, 30 S…

A New pH-Dependent Macrocyclic Rhodamine B-Based Fluorescent Probe for Copper Detection in White Wine

2019

For efficiently measuring copper (II) ions in the acidic media of white wine, a new chemosensor based on rhodamine B coupled to a tetraazamacrocyclic ring (13aneN4CH2NH2) was designed and synthesized by a one-pot reaction using ethanol as a green solvent. The obtained chemosensor was characterized via NMR, UV and fluorescent spectra. It was marked with no color emission under neutral pH conditions, with a pink color emission under acidic conditions, and a magenta color emission under acidic conditions where copper (II) ions were present. The sensitivity towards copper (II) ions was tested and verified over Ca2+, Ag+, Zn2+, Mg2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Fe2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Fe3+, and Mn2+, with a detection…

Orientation-Dependent Handedness of Chiral Plasmons on Nanosphere Dimers: How to Turn a Right Hand into a Left Hand

2016

Optical activity, which is used as a discriminator of chiral enantiomers, is demonstrated to be orientation dependent on individual, and nominally achiral, plasmonic nanosphere dimers. Through measurements of their giant Raman optical activity, we demonstrate that L/R-handed enantiomers can be continuously turned into their R/L-handed mirror images without passing through an achiral state. The primitive uniaxial multipolar response, with demonstrable broken parity and time reversal symmetry, reproduces the observations as resonant Raman scattering on plasmons that carry angular momentum. The analysis underscores that chirality does not have a quantitative continuous measure and recognizes t…

Nonlinear beam self-cleaning in a coupled cavity composite laser based on multimode fiber

2017

International audience; We study a coupled cavity laser configuration where a passively Q-switched Nd:YAG microchip laser is combined with an extended cavity, including a doped multimode fiber. For appropriate coupling levels with the extended cavity, we observed that beam self-cleaning was induced in the multimode fiber thanks to nonlinear modal coupling, leading to a quasi-single mode laser output. In the regime of beam self-cleaning, laser pulse duration was reduced from 525 to 225 ps. We also observed a Q-switched mode-locked operation, where spatial self-cleaning was accompanied by far-detuned nonlinear frequency conversion in the active multimode fiber.

Fiberless, Multi-Channel fNIRS-EEG System Based on Silicon Photomultipliers: Towards Sensitive and Ecological Mapping of Brain Activity and Neurovasc…

2020

Portable neuroimaging technologies can be employed for long-term monitoring of neurophysiological and neuropathological states. Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) and Electroencephalography (EEG) are highly suited for such a purpose. Their multimodal integration allows the evaluation of hemodynamic and electrical brain activity together with neurovascular coupling. An innovative fNIRS-EEG system is here presented. The system integrated a novel continuous-wave fNIRS component and a modified commercial EEG device. fNIRS probing relied on fiberless technology based on light emitting diodes and silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs). SiPMs are sensitive semiconductor detectors, whose large…
