BACKGROUND: Although the National Quality Forum has endorsed the harvest of ≥12 lymph nodes as a standard quality indicator for colon cancer surgery, this minimum quantity is not reached in many centers. In this work, novel hydrogel films based on hyaluronan (HA) chemically crosslinked with the alpha,beta-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl) (2-aminoethylcarbamate)-D,L-aspartamide (PHEA-EDA) were produced by solution casting method. The goal was to exploit both the biological key role of HA in tissue repair and regeneration, and the versatility of a synthetic protein-like polymer as the PHEA-EDA, in order to obtain biomaterials with physicochemical and biological properties suitable for a clinical use. A deep-blue emitting charged bis-cyclometallated iridium(iii) complex for light-emitting electrochemical cells

We report here a new cationic bis-cyclometallated iridium(III) complex, 1, with deep-blue emission at 440 nm and its use in Light-emitting Electrochemical Cells (LECs). The design is based on the 2′,6′-difluoro-2,3′-bipyridine skeleton as the cyclometallating ligand and a bis-imidazolium carbene-type ancillary ligand. Furthermore, bulky tert-butyl substituents are used to limit the intermolecular interactions. LECs have been driven both at constant voltage (6 V) and constant current (2.5 mA cm−2). Prussian blue (PB) represents a simple, economical, and eco‐friendly system as cathode material for sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs). However, structural problems usually worsen its experimental performance thus motivating the search for alternative synthetic strategies and the formation of composites that compensate these deficiencies. Herein, a straightforward approach for the preparation of PB/MoS2‐based nanocomposites is presented. Abstract: We have developed a general protocol for the preparation of hybrid nanostructures formed by nanoparticles (NPs) of molecule-based magnets based on Prussian Blue Analogues (PBAs) decorated with plasmonic Au NPs of different shapes. By adjusting the pH, Au NPs can be attached preferentially along the edges of the PBA or randomly on the surface. The protocol allows tuning the plasmonic properties of the hybrids in the whole visible spectrum.
About the Insoluble to the Soluble Prussian Blue Transformation

Figure 1 shows firstly an increase of the motional resistance during the first scan of the transformation process, denoting an increase of the viscoelasticity of this structure. Soluble Prussian Blue have a localized changeover in the properties of these films just when Fe(III) fraction reaches the characteristic value. Secondly, this Figure shows an increase of motional resistance in zone 2 of the voltammetric scan, proving more evident for the last cycles than for the first ones. This paper reports on molecular-based magnetic thin films of Prussian blue analogues (PBA) with high critical temperatures composed of mixed-valence chromium cyanides. The thin films of PBA were synthesized by means of electrodeposition technique. Morphology and magnetic study are presented in a function of electrochemical deposition conditions. We present the electrochemical methods as a promising and effective tool for preparing molecular-based magnetic thin films of Prussian blue analogue.

Background: Examination of surface-bound heparin on synthetic polymers can only be performed by few staining methods. These methods are limited by an only approximate detection of heparin visible at high magnification. Other methods only measure heparin quantitatively (per square dimension) and are rather sensitive to artifacts. This paper presents the first evidence of the use of Maya Blue pigment in late pre-classic (c.300BC-300AD) architecture in the Maya Lowlands. This was detected combining an innovative technique, the voltammetry of microparticles (VMP), with atomic force microscopy (AFM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (SEM/EDX), visible spectrophotometry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The pigment was found on the polychrome facade of substructure IIC of pre-Columbian city of Calakmul (Campeche, Mexico).
