Multiwall carbon-nanotube interconnects: radial effects on physical models and resistance calculations for various metal substrates
2010
Based on a model with singular attractive potential of equidistant conductive cylinders, we illustrate an approach to calculate the electron spectrum of metallic multiwall carbon nanotubes (MW CNT) with an arbitrary number of coaxial layers. We compute the number of electrically active channels, N ch , in the ideal case when all MW CNT shells are contacted to the electrodes, starting from the one-electron spectrum. The dependence of N ch on the temperature and on both the innermost and outermost shells radii allows us to discuss the potential performances of MW CNT interconnects, affecting the power dissipation of integrated circuits. Our description improves over the isolated shells model,…
Chiral mesophases of hydrogen-bonded liquid crystals
2020
The chiral induction in hydrogen-bonded liquid crystals is investigated. The experimental study was accompanied by detailed density functional theory calculations and variable-temperature solid-state deuteron NMR measurements indicating that interactions between the linking groups of the hydrogen-bond accepting unit play a key role in the chiral induction.
Tertiary Chiral Nanostructures from C‐H∙∙∙F Directed Assembly of Chiroptical Superatoms
2021
Chiral hierarchical structures are universal in nature, whereas quite challenging to mimic in man-made synthesis. We report herein the synthesis and structure of tertiary chiral nanostructures with 100% optical purity. A novel synthetic strategy, using chiral reducing agent, R and S -BINAPCuBH 4 (BINAP is 2,2'-Bis(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl), is developed to access to atomically precise, intrinsically chiral [Au 7 Ag 6 Cu 2 ( R - or S -BINAP) 3 (SCH 2 Ph) 6 ]SbF 6 nanoclusters in one-pot synthesis. The clusters represent the first tri-metallic superatoms with inherent chirality and fair stability. Both metal distribution (primary) and ligand arrangement (secondary) of the enantiomer…
Diquark correlations in hadron physics: Origin, impact and evidence
2020
The last decade has seen a marked shift in how the internal structure of hadrons is understood. Modern experimental facilities, new theoretical techniques for the continuum bound-state problem and progress with lattice-regularised QCD have provided strong indications that soft quark+quark (diquark) correlations play a crucial role in hadron physics. For example, theory indicates that the appearance of such correlations is a necessary consequence of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking, viz. a corollary of emergent hadronic mass that is responsible for almost all visible mass in the universe; experiment has uncovered signals for such correlations in the flavour-separation of the proton's elect…
Three-body hadron systems with strangeness
2013
Recently, many efforts are being put in studying three-hadron systems made of mesons and baryons and interesting results are being found. In this talk, we summarize the main features of the formalism used to study such three hadron systems with strangeness S = -1, 0 within a framework built on the basis of unitary chiral theories and solution of the Faddeev equations. In particular, we present the results obtained for the pi(K) over barN, K (K) over barN and KK (K) over bar systems and their respective coupled channels. In the first case, we find four Sigma's and two A's with spin-parity J(P) = 1/2(+), in the 1500-1800 MeV region, as two meson-one baryon s-wave resonances. In the second cas…

Precision measurement of the ratio of the charged kaon leptonic decay rates
2013
A precision measurement of the ratio RK of the rates of kaon leptonic decays K+- --> e nu and K+- --> mu nu with the full data sample collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2007-2008 is reported. The result, obtained by analysing ~150000 reconstructed K+- --> e nu candidates with 11% background contamination, is RK = (2.488+-0.010)*10^{-5}, in agreement with the Standard Model expectation.

Comparative enantioseparation of planar chiral ferrocenes on polysaccharide‐based chiral stationary phases
2022
Planar chiral ferrocenes are well-known compounds that have attracted interest for application in synthesis, catalysis, material science, and medicinal chemistry for several decades. In spite of the fact that asymmetric synthesis procedures for obtaining enantiomerically enriched ferrocenes are available, sometimes, the accessible enantiomeric excess of the chiral products is unsatisfactory. In such cases and for resolution of racemic planar chiral ferrocenes, enantioselective high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) on polysaccharide-based chiral stationary phases (CSPs) has been used in quite a few literature articles. However, although moderate/high enantioselectivities have been ob…
Improved unitarized heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory for πN scattering to fourth order
2004
We extend our previous analysis of the unitarized pion-nucleon scattering amplitude including up to fourth order terms in heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. We pay special attention to the stability of the generated Delta(1232) resonance, the convergence problems, and the power counting of the chiral parameters.
