Impact of Organoaluminum Compounds on Phenoxyimine Ligands in Coordinative Olefin Polymerization. A Theoretical Study

2013

The reduction of the phenoxyimine moiety in three individual species—namely free ligand, aluminum complex, and titanium complex—with aluminum alkyls and aluminum hydride has been studied by means of DFT. It was demonstrated that the free phenoxyimine ligand in an equimolar mixture with trimethylaluminum does not undergo reduction. Instead, experimentally observed formation of the six-membered cyclic aluminum–phenoxyimine complex, useful in the ring-opening polymerization of lactones, takes place as the kinetically and thermodynamically favored process. However, it is anticipated that a 2-fold excess of the aluminum compound, especially aluminum hydride, acting on the resulting cyclic comple…

Azonia spiro polyaza macrocycles containing biphenyl subunits as anion and cation receptors

2011

Abstract The reaction of N-Boc triprotected cyclam with bis(chloromethyl)biphenyl followed by the corresponding deprotection of the nitrogen atoms allows the preparation of receptor 3 containing an azonia spiro subunit. This receptor shows slightly increased basicity than cyclam, in particular for the formation of the appropriate triply charged species as a consequence of the reduced capacity of the structure present in 3 to stabilize the species with lower protonation degrees through the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The properties of 3 as a receptor for Cu2+ and Zn2+ and the anions derived from PO 4 3 − ( Pi ) , P 2 O 7 4 − ( PPi ) , P 3 O 10 5 − ( TPP ) and ATP have been st…

Distribution and projections of nitric oxide synthase neurons in the rodent superior olivary complex.

2000

The superior olivary complex (SOC), a group of interrelated brainstem nuclei, sends efferents to a variety of neuronal structures including the cochlea and the inferior colliculus. The present review describes data obtained from rodents providing evidence that the gaseous, short-living neuroactive substance nitric oxide (NO) is produced in the SOC. The NO-synthesizing enzyme neuronal NO-synthase (nNOS) has been localized by means of several methods including histochemistry and immunohistochemistry. Perikarya containing nNOS were found in several nuclei of the SOC. Their largest numbers and percentages of total cells were observed in the medial nucleus of the trapezoid body. Stained terminal…

Synthesis, Characterization, and Cu(2+) Coordination Studies of a 3-Hydroxy-4-pyridinone Aza Scorpiand Derivative.

2016

The synthesis, acid-base behavior, and Cu(2+) coordination chemistry of a new ligand (L1) consisting of an azamacrocyclic core appended with a lateral chain containing a 3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4(1H)-pyridinone group have been studied by potentiometry, cyclic voltammetry, and NMR and UV-vis spectroscopy. UV-vis and NMR studies showed that phenolate group was protonated at the highest pH values [log K = 9.72(1)]. Potentiometric studies point out the formation of Cu(2+) complexes of 1:2, 2:2, 4:3, 1:1, and 2:1 Cu(2+)/L1 stoichiometries. UV-vis analysis and electrochemical studies evidence the implication of the pyridinone moieties in the metal coordination of the 1:2 Cu(2+)/L1 complexes. L1 shows …

Accelerated Light-Induced Defect Transformation Study of Elkem Solar Grade Silicon

2012

AbstractSolar cells made of silicon feedstock from a metallurgical route must qualify not only the initial efficiency, but must also be comparable to the solar cells made from reference polysilicon on the spectral response after light induced degradation. A detailed comparative study of light induced defects and its impact on cell performance is necessary for both materials. We have studied accelerated light induced degradation (ALID) defect transformation for Elkem Solar Silicon and polysilicon solar cells by selecting wafers from different positions from respective silicon bricks. Active boron-oxygen complexes and iron ions in multicrystalline silicon solar cells have been analyzed, and t…

Modeling of the N-terminal Section and the Lumenal Loop of Trimeric Light Harvesting Complex II (LHCII) by Using EPR

2015

The major light harvesting complex II (LHCII) of green plants plays a key role in the absorption of sunlight, the regulation of photosynthesis, and in preventing photodamage by excess light. The latter two functions are thought to involve the lumenal loop and the N-terminal domain. Their structure and mobility in an aqueous environment are only partially known. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) has been used to measure the structure of these hydrophilic protein domains in detergent-solubilized LHCII. A new technique is introduced to prepare LHCII trimers in which only one monomer is spin-labeled. These heterogeneous trimers allow to measure intra-molecular distances within one LHCII mon…

Reversible inhibition of CO2fixation by ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase through the synergic effect of arsenite and a monothiol

2013

The activity of the photosynthetic carbon-fixing enzyme, ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco), is partially inhibited by arsenite in the millimolar concentration range. However, micromolar arsenite can fully inhibit Rubisco in the presence of a potentiating monothiol such as cysteine, cysteamine, 2-mercaptoethanol or N-acetylcysteine, but not glutathione. Arsenite reacts specifically with the vicinal Cys172-Cys192 from the large subunit of Rubisco and with the monothiol to establish a ternary complex, which is suggested to be a trithioarsenical. The stability of the complex is strongly dependent on the nature of the monothiol. Enzyme activity is fully recovered through …

Truncated recombinant light harvesting complex II proteins are substrates for a protein kinase associated with photosystem II core complexes

1998

AbstractPrevious studies directed towards understanding phosphorylation of the chlorophyll a/b binding proteins comprising light harvesting complex II (LHC II) have concentrated on a single phosphorylation site located close to the N-terminus of the mature proteins. Here we show that a series of recombinant pea Lhcb1 proteins, each missing an N-terminal segment including this site, are nevertheless phosphorylated by a protein kinase associated with a photosystem II core complex preparation. An Lhcb1 protein missing the first 58 amino acid residues is not, however, phosphorylated. The results demonstrate that the LHC II proteins are phosphorylated at one or more sites, the implications of wh…

2016

In the title complex, [Pd(C12H17N2S3)2], the PdIIatom exhibits a square-planar coordination geometry with theN,S-chelating ligands arranged in atransconfiguration. Intramolecular C—H...S hydrogen bonds are observed. In the crystal, molecules are linked by weak C—H...N hydrogen-bond interactions, forming chains parallel to thebaxis.
