First, we examined the relationship between virtual teams’ emotional intelligence composition and three indicators of their members’ well-being, members’ satisfaction with the team, and positive and negative affective states. Characterisation of the volatile fraction of aromatic caramel using heart-cutting multidimensional gas chromatography

The first aim of our study was to improve characterisation of the volatile fraction of aromatic caramel by applying heart-cutting multidimensional gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and olfactometry (MDGC-MS-O) on targeted odorant fractions. The second aim was to compare the volatile composition of two caramel samples, which differed in terms of their carbohydrate composition and cooking process. MDGC analyses enabled identification of 37 compounds (17 with the addition of pure standard) in the burnt sugar caramel, 20 of which were reported for the first time in caramel. Genetic and environmental factors contribute to bone mass, but the ways they interact remain poorly understood. This study of 245 pre- and early pubertal girls found that the PvuII polymorphism in the ER- gene modulates the effect of exercise on BMD at loaded bone sites. Volatility of secondary organic aerosol during OH radical induced ageing

The aim of this study was to investigate oxidation of SOA formed from ozonolysis of <i>α</i>-pinene and limonene by hydroxyl radicals. This paper focuses on changes of particle volatility, using a Volatility Tandem DMA (VTDMA) set-up, in order to explain and elucidate the mechanism behind atmospheric ageing of the organic aerosol. Effect of the milling conditions on the degree of amorphization of selenium by milling in a planetary ball mill

The effect of the milling parameters (rotation speed of the milling device and duration of milling) on the phase composition of the products of milling of fully crystalline selenium has been investigated. The milling was conducted using a planetary micromill and the phase composition of the milling products was determined by differential thermal analysis. It has been found that ball milling leads to the partial amorphization of the starting crystalline material. The content of amorphous phase in the milling products depends, in a rather complicated way, on the milling parameters. Comparison between Different Techniques for Volatiles Analyses in Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.)

Although many papers have been devoted to the study of Coriander fruits aromatic pattern, many differences show up according not only to the provenience of seeds, but also to the analytical methods chosen. In our work, samples from one Coriander small-seeded biotype has been analysed, verifying the differences between (1) the oil extracted by means of a Soxhlet apparatus (2) the same oil sampled by means of HS-SPME and (3) the HS-SPME on the roughly ground seeds, all analysed by direct injection in the GC-MS. Volatile Constituents of the Seed Coat ofZanthoxylum rhetsa(Roxb.) DC.

Abstract The chemical composition of the volatile oil of Zanthoxylum rhetsa seed coat was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Thirty-four compounds, accounting for 87.4% of the oil were identifed. The major compounds were terpinen-4-ol (32.1%), α-terpineol (8.2%), sabinene (8.1%), β-phellandrene (7.4%) and 2-undecanone (7.1%).

Base composition of DNA from glomalean fungi: high amounts of methylated cytosine.

Glomales (Zygomycetes) are obligate fungal symbionts of roots of land plants and form arbuscular mycorrhiza. Sporal DNA of 10 isolates belonging to nine species was purified and the base composition was determined by RP-HPLC. Base composition fell in a narrow range between 30 and 35% G + C. A high amount of methylated cytosine (mC) accounting for 2-4% of the total nucleotides was found in all taxa. The DNA melting profile was defined for Scutellospora castanea. It corresponded to 32% G + C, and the shape of the denaturation curve suggested a heterogeneity in the GC content within the fungal genome. Laminated carbonate deposits in Roman aqueducts: Origin, processes and implications

Carbonate deposits in Roman aqueducts of Patara and Aspendos (southern Turkey) were studied to analyse the nature of their regular layering. Optical microscopy and electron-backscattered diffraction results show an alternation of dense, coarsely crystalline, translucent laminae composed of bundles and fans of elongate calcite crystals with their c-axes parallel to the long axis, and porous, fine-grained laminae with crystals at near-random orientation.
