Narrative transportation scale: Measure development for transmedia experience

2017

International audience; To better understand transmedia experience in the cultural context, one needs to focus on narrative transportation as a prototypical form of experiential response with transmedia display. The present article focuses on narrative transportation scale development and presents the results drawn from a first data collection. Dimensions of narrative transportation and an initial pool of items are based on previous research, as well as on an exploratory study intended to understand transmedia experience in a cultural context and the process of narrative transportation. Exploratory factor analysis is implemented, the scale structure is presented and its reliability estimate…

Trabajo y TIC en los mayores de 45 años. Un análisis de la introducción al ciberespacio desde la esfera laboral

2018

The inequality in access to cyberspace due to age at the beginning of the twenty-first century was followed by an economic crisis that intensified many socio-labor dynamics. Through a contextualization with INE data and a qualitative sample, the following work tries to capture the attitudes about ICT related to their previous labor trajectories on those over 45 years of age; and, on the other hand, its introduction to cyberspace from work as a conditioner in the perception of crisis, the maintenance of employment or their way out to retirement.

Training needs of teachers in ICT: Training profiles and elements of complexity

2011

Training needs of teachers in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is one of the key aspects for the integration of ICT in daily educational practice, along with competences in ICT and the use of these technological resources by teachers. The aim of this paper is to establish teacher training profiles and relate them to their competences in ICT and the use thereof, together with personal and contextual factors. To this end, it has been used a survey design, with the sample 868 teachers from primary and secondary education in the Comunidad Valenciana. The instrument for collecting information is a questionnaire. The results indicate that teachers demand higher-level training in p…

Meta-Level Modelling of e-Education Ecosystem in Multicultural Context

2017

A sociotechnical system is a complex inter-relationship of people and technology, including hardware, software, data, physical and virtual surroundings, people, procedures, laws and regulations. An e-Education environment is a particularly complex example of a sociotechnical system that requires equal support for user needs and technological innovations. The challenge for eEducation environment development is that in addition to the producers, users, domain experts and software developers, pedagogical experts are also key stakeholders. In our paper, we discuss different meta-aspects and components of modelling e-Education ecosystems in multicultural contexts. peerReviewed

Earth resistance measurements in urban contexts: Problems and possible solutions

2017

Both EN 50522 and IEEE Std. 81 propose the Fall of Potential Method (FPM) to carry out the measurement of the resistance to earth of an Earthing System (ES). However, in urban areas, the recommended distances between the ES and auxiliary electrodes are not easy to respect, due to the presence of buildings and tarmac. Moreover, unknown buried metallic parts, as well as the interconnection among the ESs made by the Distributor System Operator, could modify the earth potential profile of the area, affecting the measurement results. In this paper, the issues that could affect the measurement result if FPM is used in an urban context are presented. A parametric analysis, carried out with Comsol …

Enhancing Children’s Outdoor Learning Experiences with a Mobile Application

2015

This paper examines how a mobile learning application can enhance children’s outdoor learning experiences. The study draws upon empirical evidence gathered in one case study conducted in a Finnish primary school setting in the fall of 2012. The data were collected with student and teacher surveys. The case study indicated that the mobile application provided children with tangible, motivating, and educative experiences. The mobile application also clearly encouraged social interaction. In addition, the case study highlighted the significance of pedagogy. Thus the appropriate way to utilize mobile applications in an educational context requires a balance in which the technology use is comple…
