Support Vector Machines for Crop Classification Using Hyperspectral Data

In this communication, we propose the use of Support Vector Machines (SVM) for crop classification using hyperspectral images. SVM are benchmarked to well–known neural networks such as multilayer perceptrons (MLP), Radial Basis Functions (RBF) and Co-Active Neural Fuzzy Inference Systems (CANFIS). Models are analyzed in terms of efficiency and robustness, which is tested according to their suitability to real–time working conditions whenever a preprocessing stage is not possible. Emphasis is given to the techniques used for on-line checking the main processor activity without adding overhead, and to the advantages of a field programmable gate array implementation.
A new fast and fault-tolerant identification algorithm for spectral databases

A new method for an automatic, computer and database driven identification of UV/VIS spectra is described. It is shown that an identification algorithm must consider the spectral differences as well as their common features. The described identification method allows identifications, even if the spectra are distorted or shifted.
A fuzzy decision support tool for demand forecasting

In this paper we present a decision support forecasting system to work with univariate time series based on the generalized exponential smoothing (Holt-Winters) approach. It is conceived as an integrated tool which has been implemented in Visual Basic. For improving the accuracy of the automatic forecasting it uses an optimization-based scheme which unifies the stages of estimation of the parameters and selects the best method using a fuzzy multicriteria approach. The elements of the set of local minima of the non-linear programming problems allow us to build the membership functions of the conflicting objectives. Using the well known representation of any finite MV-algebra as a product of finite MV-chains as factors, we obtain a representation of its canonical extension as a Girard algebra product of the canonical extensions of the MV-chain factors. Based on this representation and using the results from our last paper, we characterize the additive measures on any finite MV-algebra resp. the weakly and the strongly additive measures on its canonical Girard algebra extension, and that as convex combinations of the corresponding measures on the respective factors. There has been a general consensus in recent literature that internationalization is a key success factor in the competitive business environment we now live in. Using a sample of Spanish agri-food companies, the main objective of this research is to determine the linkage of Management Control Systems (MCS), ISO certifications, internationalization and performance. Vacuum induced berry phase: Theory and experimental proposal

We investigate quantum effects in geometric phases arising when a two-level system is interacting with a quantized electromagnetic field. When the system is adiabatically driven along a closed loop in the parameter space, signatures of the field quantization are observable in the geometric phase. We propose a feasible experiment to measure these effects in cavity QED and also analyse the semi-classical limit, recovering the usual Berry phase results.
Speed control design for a vehicle system using fuzzy logic and PID controller

This paper consists of designing fuzzy and PID controllers for controlling the vehicle speed. The dynamic of the system is modeled to provide a transfer function for the plant. Fuzzy and PID controller are designed for linear model. The external disturbances such road grade is considered to stabilizing the system. Both controllers are modeled using MATLAB Simulink software. Finally, a comparative assessment of each simulated result is done based on the response characteristics.
