Evaluation of aging behavior under salt-fog spray conditions of green sandwich structures

In this paper, the aging resistance of sandwich structures made with cork agglomerate as core and flax-reinforced polymeric laminates as face sheets was investigated for the first time. In order to evaluate their durability in a hostile environment, a sandwich plate was manufactured by vacuum bagging technique and aged under salt-fog spray conditions, according to ASTM B 117 standard. This article will summarize measurement data for Pt in different environmental samples obtained by the authors using a recently developed approach by voltammetric analysis. A fast accumulation of platinum and rhodium in the environmental and biological matrices has been observed in the last few years and concern has arisen about potential environmental and health risks. Voltammetry was used for the determination of Pt and Rh in airborne particulate collected in Palermo, Italy. Possible interferences by other environmental metals have also been evaluated. International audience; Between 1927 and 1930, Pirro Marconi investigated a small rectangular structure near house Filippazzo, in the central urban area of Akragas. The presence of a bothros and fragments of female figures with stephane suggested the presence of a small sanctuary or themenos for chthonic deities. The little news published by Marconi and the vague indication of location made us forget the existence of this sanctuary for many years. However, a survey carried out in 2016 allowed to identify the remains of Marconi’s structure, partly covered by ground. At the same time, other little-known structures have been identified. In some cases, their function is still unknown.
