"Table 21" of "K*(892)^0 and PHI(1020) production in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(sNN) = 2.76 TeV"
2015
Yield (dN/dy) of phi(1020) mesons for different centrality intervals in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(sNN)=2.76 TeV. In the table, the first systematic uncertainty is uncorrelated between centrality intervals and the second is the normalization uncertainty.
Transverse-momentum-dependent Multiplicities of Charged Hadrons in Muon-Deuteron Deep Inelastic Scattering
2017
A semi-inclusive measurement of charged hadron multiplicities in deep inelastic muon scattering off an isoscalar target was performed using data collected by the COMPASS Collaboration at CERN. The following kinematic domain is covered by the data: photon virtuality $Q^{2}>1$ (GeV/$c$)$^2$, invariant mass of the hadronic system $W > 5$ GeV/$c^2$, Bjorken scaling variable in the range $0.003 < x < 0.4$, fraction of the virtual photon energy carried by the hadron in the range $0.2 < z < 0.8$, square of the hadron transverse momentum with respect to the virtual photon direction in the range 0.02 (GeV/$c)^2 < P_{\rm{hT}}^{2} < 3$ (GeV/$c$)$^2$. The multiplicities are pres…
Charged particle multiplicity distributions in restricted rapidity intervals in Z0 hadronic decays.
1991
The multiplicity distributions of charged particles in restricted rapidity intervals in Z0 hadronic decays measured by the DELPHI detector are presented. The data reveal a shoulder structure, best visible for intervals of intermediate size, i.e. for rapidity limits around ±1.5. The whole set of distributions including the shoulder structure is reproduced by the Lund Parton Shower model. The structure is found to be due to important contributions from 3-and 4-jet events with a hard gluon jet. A different model, based on the concept of independently produced groups of particles, "clans", fluctuating both in number per event and particle content per clan, has also been used to analyse the pres…
Influence of alternative mating tactics on predation risk in the damselfly Calopteryx virgo
2009
Alternative mating tactics are a widespread feature in insects. A typical form of alternative mating behaviour is being a sneaker in the vicinity of a territorial male. Such nonterritorial males have lower mating success, but they may benefit from lower energetic costs and decreased predation risk. In this study, we examined whether nonterritorial male damselflies Calopteryx virgo (L., 1758) are subject to lower predation risk than territorial males. To distinguish predation from other sources of mortality, we used models. The experiment consisted of dried male damselflies settled into the typical perching positions of territorial and nonterritorial males. Also the spatiotemporal patterns …
Comparison of Canopy Emissivity Parametric Models With TES Emissivity Measurements
2018
Canopy temperature is a key factor in many studies, such as evapotranspiration and heat fluxes estimation. To retrieve it accurately, it is needed a precise characterization of the emissivity in the thermal infrared spectral range. Several parametric models are proposed to retrieved effective emissivity at different observation angles, from the previous knowledge of the vegetation and soil emissivities. The present work compares some of these models with emissivity measurements obtained with Temperature-Emissivity Separation (TES) method. For that, FR97, Mod3 and Rmod3 parametric models have been compared with radiometric measurements. Emissivity measurements were done for 7 different obser…
Production of Λ and KS0 in jets in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV and pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
2022
The production of Λ baryons and KS0 mesons (V0 particles) was measured in p–Pb collisions at √sNN=5.02 TeV and pp collisions at √s=7 TeV with ALICE at the LHC. The production of these strange particles is studied separately for particles associated with hard scatterings and the underlying event to shed light on the baryon-to-meson ratio enhancement observed at intermediate transverse momentum (pT) in high multiplicity pp and p–Pb collisions. Hard scatterings are selected on an event-by-event basis with jets reconstructed with the anti-kT algorithm using charged particles. The production of strange particles associated with jets pT,jetch>10 and pT,jetch>20 GeV/c in p–Pb collisions, and with …
Institutional Path Dependence in Competitive Dynamics: The Case of Paper Industries in Finland and the USA
2016
Prior research on competitive dynamics has failed to offer tools to understand distorted patterns of competition that emerge from distinct institutional and historical contexts. Our analysis suggests that a joint effect of institutional rules, governance structures, and shared cognition plays a pivotal role in firm-level competitive behavior and capability development. We show how globally significant market positions can result from specific institutional arrangements between firms and governments, especially if coupled with interfirm contractual commitments. Our results call for more attention to these interfirm commitments that are built on formal rules and governmental support, but whos…
The spatial pattern of a forest ecosystem
1998
Abstract Statistical analysis of stands of trees as a whole need suitable methods of spatial statistics. Obviously, trees within a stand affect development and survival of their neighbours. They interact and therefore have to be considered as a system of dependent random variates from an unknown stochastic process. One such statistical model which considers the spatial dependence among trees in a forest and their characteristics is a marked point process. The `points', called events in spatial statistics, are the tree positions and the `marks' are tree characteristics such as crown lengths or tree species. A minimal prerequisite for any serious attempt to model an observed pattern is to tes…
Pressure Dependence of Positron Annihilation in Si
1994
The pressure dependence of the electron-positron and the electron-electron momentum densities in silicon are studied. The observations that the electron-positron momentum density increases more rapidly with pressure than the electron-electron momentum density alone is explained in terms of increased positron penetration into the ion cores. The computational technique used here is based on the independent-particle model (IPM) coupled with the use of the electron pseudo-wave functions.
