This paper focuses on the path dependency of landscapes in Latgale, Latvia from the present perspective at the regional and local scale. During the last centuries Latvia's landscapes have passed through radical changes, which were driven by political events. Each new political era discarded the ideas of the previous era and subsequently reorganized the land(scape) according to the new views. We aimed to investigate pacemaker dependency after at least 1 year in patients with early (7 days) implantation, compared to those who received a pacemaker ≥7 days after cardiac surgery. Relative Humidity Dependent Resistance Switching of Bi2S3Nanowires

Electrical properties of Bi2S3nanowires grown using a single source precursor in anodic aluminum oxide templates are sensitive to the relative humidity in an inert gas environment. Dynamic sensing dependency is obtained and shows presence of spontaneous resistance switching effect between low and high relative humidity states. Employing the thermionic field emission theory, heights of Schottky barriers are estimated from the current-voltage characteristics and in relation to the humidity response. The change of Schottky barrier height is explained by local changes in physically adsorbed water molecules on the surface of the nanowire.
Viscoelastic properties of the Achilles tendon in vivo

It has been postulated that human tendons are viscoelastic and their mechanical properties time-dependent. Although Achilles tendon (AT) mechanics are widely reported, there is no consensus about AT viscoelastic properties such as loading rate dependency or hysteresis, in vivo. AT force-elongation characteristics were determined from 14 subjects in an ankle dynamometer at different loading rates using motion capture assisted ultrasonography. AT stiffness and elongation were determined between 10 – 80% of maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) force at fast and slow loading rates. Under What Conditions Do the News Media Influence Corporate Reputation? The Roles of Media Dependency and Need for Orientation

Previous research has assumed uniform effects of the news media's influence on corporate reputation. This study uses theories of media system dependency and ‘need for orientation’ to examine contingent conditions affecting the degree of the media influence. Our integrated measurement approach gauging media coverage and stakeholder evaluations on the same dimensions of reputation furthered the methodological approach to this research area. We found that stakeholders depend more on the news media to learn about reputation dimensions that are difficult to directly experience or observe and for which the news media are the main source of information.
Are There Essentially Incomplete Knowledge Representation Systems?

A mathematical model of a knowledge representation system (KR-system) is proposed. Its prototype is the concept of an information system in the sense of Z. Pawlak; however, the model is, in fact, a substantial extension of the latter. In our model, attributes may form an arbitrary category, where morphisms represent built-in functional dependencies, and uncertainty of knowledge is treated in terms of category theory via monads. Several notions of simulation are also considered for such KR-systems. In this general setting, the semiphilosophical problem mentioned in the title, still open, is given a precise meaning.
