A study on the didactic, content and narrative characteristics of the audiovisual products available on YouTube Kids
2022
This article analyzes the characteristics of a selection of audiovisual products aimed at children from 0 to 4 years old, hosted on the YouTube Kids platform. On the one hand, the platform itself is analyzed; its structure, design, usability and interactivity. On the other hand, the most popular resources in each of the categories established on the platform itself are analyzed, namely: programs, music, learning and exploring. A total of 29 videos were evaluated, using an analysis tool developed ad-hoc, which is structured in the following areas of analysis: didactic, content and narrative. The results obtained show that the platform is based on a structure similar to that of YouTube, but i…
Analysis of digital competence in future teachers through a mixed design
2022
Digital competence is not only a desirable skill for any citizen, but also a responsibility for the training of future teachers. Using a mixed methodology combining a questionnaire based on the Common Framework for Digital Competence in Teaching and open items, this paper aims to analyse the level of digital competence of 230 future teachers (Primary and Secondary Education), as well as to explore possible differences based on some basic variables. A study is also carried out on the perceived level of digital competence and the true level of digital competence, exploring, finally, the perceptions of the uses of technology in the educational environment. The results show that the level of di…
Educational policies in the production and distribution of digital didactic materials
2017
Detection of Ventricular Fibrillation Using the Image from Time-Frequency Representation and Combined Classifiers without Feature Extraction
2018
Due the fact that the required therapy to treat Ventricular Fibrillation (V F) is aggressive (electric shock), the lack of a proper detection and recovering therapy could cause serious injuries to the patient or trigger a ventricular fibrillation, or even death. This work describes the development of an automatic diagnostic system for the detection of the occurrence of V F in real time by means of the time-frequency representation (T F R) image of the ECG. The main novelties are the use of the T F R image as input for a classification process, as well as the use of combined classifiers. The feature extraction stage is eliminated and, together with the use of specialized binary classifiers, …

Development of readout electronics for the ATLAS tile calorimeter at the HL-LHC
2017

Design And Characterization Of Automated Color Sensor System
2017
Abstract The paper presents a color sensor system that can process light reflected from a surface and produce a digital output representing the color of the surface. The end-user interface circuit requires only a 3-bit pseudo flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in place of the conventional/typical design comprising ADC, digital signal processor and memory. For scalability and compactness, the ADC was designed such that only two comparators were required regardless of the number of color/wavelength to be identified. The complete system design has been implemented in hardware (bread board) and fully characterized. The ADC achieved less than 0.1 LSB for both INL and DNL. The experimental r…
Experimental test results vs. analytical prediction of welded joint strength in hybrid steel trussed concrete beams (HSTCBs)
2013
The aim of the paper is to provide practical guidelines for the design of welded joints of steel truss for encased composite steel–concrete beams. The results of experimental tests are presented and interpreted. The steel truss is made of a steel plate acting as the bottom chord, made of S355 structural steel, coupled with steel rebars which form the upper chord, and steel inclined web rebars (V-reverse) welded to the two chord elements, both of them made of steel B450C. Butt welded joints of web bar to bottom steel plate and fillet welding joints of inclined web bars to top chord bars were tested, as they are different from the ones which are normally used due to the coupling of different …
A PC-based wattmeter for high accuracy power measurements
2010
This paper proposes the use of a commercial data acquisition board (DAQ) connected to a common personal computer for high accuracy power measurements. In the paper the set up of the PC-based wattmeter is described and an experimental evaluation of its metrological performances is made by means of the comparison with a simultaneous coherent digital sampling wattmeter realized with two high-precision DMMs Hewlett Packard Model 3458 A. In both cases the power source is a Fluke 6100A/E electrical power standard. © 2010 IEEE.
