The use of drugs for the treatment of cancers increased, and new molecules and protocols were developed to improve outcomes in these patients. The literature on cardinals examined in this article (writings on conclaves, biographies, funeral orations and relations, as well as descriptions of funeral apparati) demonstrate an ostentatious prevalence of the “purple” on the “blood”, of the ecclesiastical nobility on the honour of the lineage, of the genealogy of the Church on that of the family trees. Such prevalence was of course rhetoric within a system that made the kinship relationships as its strength and had a noble social block behind itself. This article is about Hsp10 and its intracellular and extracellular forms focusing on the relationship of the latter with Early Pregnancy Factor and on their roles in cancer and immunity. Cellular physiology and survival are finely regulated and depend on the correct functioning of the entire set of proteins. Misfolded or unfolded proteins can cause deleterious effects and even cell death. The chaperonins Hsp10 and Hsp60 act together inside the mitochondria to assist protein folding. This article studies the myth of Icarus as it is translated in the first part of Alfonso X's General estoria. Its analysis highlights aspects that are usually found in the mythographical episodes of the Alfonsine estoria, particularly linked with its possible sources and its internal characteristics. The latter ones are defined by the anonymity of the quote and an evident moral intention.
