Objeto: El objetivo del presente artículo es conocer si existen diferencias en las variables que explican la intención de emprender de los estudiantes universitarios de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte atendiendo a la formación y al género de éstos. Labor Market Flexibility and Unemployment: New Empirical Evidence of Static and Dynamic Effects

The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between labor market flexibility and unemployment outcomes. Using a panel of 97 countries from 1985 to 2008, the results of the paper suggest that improvements in labor market flexibility have a statistically and significant negative impact on unemployment outcomes (over unemployment, youth unemployment, and long-term unemployment). Among the different labor market flexibility indicators analyzed, hiring and firing regulations and hiring costs are found to have the strongest effect.

The work presented here is a research carried out into initiatives for returning the long-term unemployed to work. A small case group study based on international expertise in social categorization and communication was conducted in France. This analysis of “long-term unemployment” was done through the consequences for relationships with work with a view to suggesting a suitable remedial approach. The recommended socio psychological counseling is based on reconstructing the professional identity of the long-term unemployed person and implementing this before the return to a supported role that should serve as a springboard towards permanent employment. More hours, more jobs? The employment effects of longer working hours

Increases in standard hours of work have been a contentious policy issue in Germany. Whilst this might directly lead to a substitution of workers by hours, there may also be a positive employment effect due to reduced costs. Moreover, the response of firms may differ between firms that offer overtime and those that do not. For a panel of German plants (2001–2006) drawn from the IAB Establishment Panel, we are the first to analyse the effect of increased standard hours on employment. Working outside academia? : perceptions of early-career, fixed-term researchers on changing careers

This article examines the perceptions of early-career, fixed-term researchers in Finnish universities towards changing careers. It maps out the reasons this group has considered the change and where they see themselves in five years. As a theoretical framework, a synthesisation of variables related to career change, created by Ryan, Healy, and Sullivan [2012. “Oh, Won’t You Stay? Predictors of Faculty Intent to Leave a Public University.” Higher Education 63: 421–437.], was used. Celem artykułu jest określenie wpływu zasady uprzywilejowania pracownika na swobodę kształtowania przez strony stosunku pracy postanowień umów o pracę oraz umów dodatkowych. W artykule zostały przedstawione argumenty uzasadniające tezę, zgodnie z którą mechanizm przewidziany w art. 18 § 2 kodeksu pracy może znaleźć zastosowanie wyłącznie do postanowień umów o pracę, nie obejmuje natomiast swym zakresem nazwanych i nienazwanych umów dodatkowych zawieranych przez strony stosunku pracy. This study examines bridge employment decision-making from a self-employment perspective using 3 prominent retirement theories, the life course perspective, continuity theory and role theory. Focusing on self-employment extends the current theoretical understanding of bridge employment and offers interesting implications for retirement policy-making. Family carers and lack of personal time: Descriptions of being outside the sphere of formal help

The aim of this article is to study manifestations of uncomfortable familial commitments. The connection of such commitments to informal family carers' descriptions of problems in accessibility of services and to descriptions of preferences regarding limited use of formal help is examined. The data consists of 21 qualitative interviews of Finnish persons who, alongside their gainful employment, cared for their parent(s).
