[Background and Aims] Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a common cause of chronic liver disease. Clinical trials use the NASH Clinical Research Network (CRN) system for semiquantitative histological assessment of disease severity. Interobserver variability may hamper histological assessment, and diagnostic consensus is not always achieved. We evaluate a second harmonic generation/two‐photon excitation fluorescence (SHG/TPEF) imaging‐based tool to provide an automated quantitative assessment of histological features pertinent to NASH.

Evaluation of biscuits obtained from novel composite flour containing Maiorca malt flour

The aim of this study was to investigate a novel composite flour containing one of the old Sicilian wheat landraces called Maiorca and the resultant biscuits. In this study, the effect of replacing soft wheat flour with Maiorca malt flour and commercial malt flour at different percentages (5, 10, and 15%) on the color intensity, formation of acrylamide, and descriptive sensory analysis was evaluated. Sensory analysis revealed that the biscuit sample containing 5% Maiorca malt flour was most appreciated by panelists. Eventually, data analysis revealed that Maiorca malt flour had great potential to be used as a part of biscuit ingredients.

Status considerations have recently been linked to prosocial behaviors. This research shows that even everyday consumer behaviors such as favoring organic foods serve as prosocial status signaling. Key ideas from the continuum model of consumer impression formation and the theories of costly signaling and symbolic consumption are synthetized to make sense of this phenomenon. Abstract Purpose: Nilotinib plus doxorubicin showed to be synergistic regarding apoptosis in several sarcoma cell lines. A phase I/II trial was thus designed to explore the feasibility of nilotinib as coadjuvant of doxorubicin by inhibiting MRP-1/P-gp efflux activity. The phase I part of the study is presented here. Patients and Methods: Nilotinib 400 mg/12 hours was administered in fixed dose from day 1 to 6, and doxorubicin on day 5 of each cycle.
