Detection of surfaces for projection of texture

2007

Augmented reality is used to improve color segmentation on human's body or on precious no touch artefacts. We propose a technique based on structured light to project texture on a real object without any contact with it. Such techniques can be apply on medical application, archeology, industrial inspection and augmented prototyping. Coded structured light is an optical technique based on active stereovision which allows shape acquisition. By projecting a light pattern onto the surface of an object and capturing images with a camera, a large number of correspondences can be found and 3D points can be reconstructed by means of triangulation.

U.I.R.D.A. – Unbuilt Italian Rationalism Digital Archive

2018

For twenty years, the architecture of Italian rationalism through the digital modelling has been investigated. Very often, the production of a model and the consequent representation of tridimensional views, in many case studies, as outcome of the research on architecture have been considered. Actually, the digital model, intended as a critical tool, has to be conceived as a ‘starting point' for graphic analysis of architecture and not as the outcome. Indeed, it is associated to other graphics, sometimes not ‘deducted' from the model, useful for the understanding/translation of architecture. The construction of the model is not the construction of a simple image, operation, which is often c…

Range image binarization: applications to wooden stamps analysis

2003

This paper deals with the analysis of ancient wooden stamps. The aim is to extract a binary image from the stamp. This image must be the closer to the image produced by inking and using a printing press with the stamps. A range image based method is proposed to extract a stamped image from the stamps. The range image acquisition from a 3D laser scanner is presented. Pre-filtering for range image enhancement is detailed. The range image binarization method is based on an adaptive thresholding. Few simple processes applied on the range image enable a final binarized image computing. The proposed method provides here a very efficient way to perform "virtual" stampings with ancient wooden stamp…

A Note on the Shear Influence on Belt Drive Mechanics

2007

Abstract Belt drives work often with short center distances and very different wrap arcs so that high adherence characteristics are required at the belt-pulley contact. In addition, the belt flexural stiffness reduces the contact width, but this decrease may be compensated in part by the belt softening due to the shear compliance.

A Model for Capturing Product Assembly Information

2005

The important issue of mechanical assemblies has been a subject of intense research over the past several years. Most electromechanical products are assemblies of several components, for various technical as well as economic reasons. This paper provides an object-oriented definition of an assembly model called the Open Assembly Model (OAM) and defines an extension to the NIST Core Product Model (NIST-CPM). The assembly model represents the function, form, and behavior of the assembly and defines both a system level conceptual model and associated hierarchical relationships. The model provides a way for tolerance representation and propagation, kinematics representation, and engineering anal…

X-RAY TOMOGRAPHY STUDIES OF PREHISTORIC CERAMIC ARTIFACTS

2014

X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) is a powerful non-destructive technique that can yield interesting structural information not discernible through visual examination only. This paper presents the results of the CT scans of four objects belonging to the Romanian cultural heritage attributed to the Vinča, Cucuteni and Cruceni-Belegiš cultures. The study was performed with an X-ray tomographic device developed at the Department for Applied Nuclear Physics from Horia Hulubei National Institute for Nuclear Physics and Engineering in Măgurele, Romania. This apparatus was specially designed for archaeometric studies of low-Z artifacts: ceramic, wood, bone. The tomographic investigations revealed th…

Food Tray Sealing Fault Detection in Multi-Spectral Images Using Data Fusion and Deep Learning Techniques

2021

A correct food tray sealing is required to preserve food properties and safety for consumers. Traditional food packaging inspections are made by human operators to detect seal defects. Recent advances in the field of food inspection have been related to the use of hyperspectral imaging technology and automated vision-based inspection systems. A deep learning-based approach for food tray sealing fault detection using hyperspectral images is described. Several pixel-based image fusion methods are proposed to obtain 2D images from the 3D hyperspectral image datacube, which feeds the deep learning (DL) algorithms. Instead of considering all spectral bands in region of interest around a contamin…

About Supergraphs. Part III

2019

Summary The previous articles [5] and [6] introduced formalizations of the step-by-step operations we use to construct finite graphs by hand. That implicitly showed that any finite graph can be constructed from the trivial edgeless graph K 1 by applying a finite sequence of these basic operations. In this article that claim is proven explicitly with Mizar[4].
