Arvien vairāk uzdevumiem tiek izgudroti kvantu algoritmi, kas ir pārāki pār labākajiem zināmajiem klasiskajiem algoritmiem. Bieži šiem algoritmiem nepieciešamais atmiņas daudzums ir liels, kas pašlaik mazās pieejamās kvantu atmiņas dēļ nav optimāli. Role of endocannabinoids and TRPV1 channels in the bioelectric activity of hippocampal neurons
It has been reported that endocannabinoid system is an important player in the regulation of neuronal bioelectrical activity, relying on receptor-mediated mechanisms. Amongst these, Cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1r) and Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1) are both modulated by endocannabinoids, involved in the transduction of stimuli in the pre-synaptic neuron and prompt downstream pathways in the post-synaptic neuron. The thesis "Stereotypes of the magnetizer and hypnotist in English fiction literature of the 19th Century" is made up of three research papers. In the first paper, entitled "The picture of Animal Magnetism in Fiction Literature: The Cases of Poe, Doyle, and Du Maurier," I discuss the following texts: The Facts in the Case of M.Valdemar (1845) by Edgar Allan Poe, The Great Keinplatz Experiment (1885) by Arthur Conan Doyle and Trilby (1894) by George Du Maurier. Thus, the case of Poe serves to present the historical overview of the diffusion and reception of animal magnetism in the United States, that of Doyle for the German case and that of Du Maurier for the British case. Nieru šūnu karcinoma ir sestais biežāk diagnosticētais audzējs no visām onkoloģiskajām diagnozēm pasaulē. Gaišo šūnu nieru karcinoma ir 65-70% no visiem saslimšanas gadījumiem ar nieru audzējiem. Izmaiņas von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) gēnā, kurš ir visbiežāk mutētais gēns gaišo šūnu nieru karcinomas gadījumā, tiek salīdzinātas starp in vitro audzētām cilvēku nieru proksimālo kanāliņu epitēlija šūnām un gaišo šūnu nieru karcinomas šūnu līnijām un primārajām šunām, kuras iegūtas no gaišo šūnu nieru karcinomas pacientu audiem un blakus esošiem veselajiem audiem. In Silico Finite Element Modeling of Stress Distribution in Osteosynthesis after Pertrochanteric Fractures

A stabilization method of pertrochanteric femur fractures is a contentious issue. Here, we assess the feasibility of rapid in silico 2D finite element modeling (FEM) to predict the distribution of stresses arising during the two most often used stabilization methods: gamma nail fixation (GNF) and dynamic hip screw (DHS). The modeling was based on standard pre-surgery radiographs of hip joints of 15 patients with pertrochanteric fractures of type A1, A2, and A3 according to the AO/OTA classification. The FEM showed that the stresses were similar for both GNF and DHS, with the medians ranging between 53–60 MPa and consistently lower for A1 than A3 fractures. Stresses also appeared in the fixa…
