Measuring value levers: Experimental and contingent approaches

Abstract This paper compares two alternative methodologies—the experimental–behavioral approach and the contingent approach—for measuring the value that an attribute of a good (product or service) creates for potential customers. In the experimental–behavioral methodology, potential buyers make actual purchase decisions by receiving financial incentives. In the contingent approach, commonplace in marketing research and purchase decisions are hypothetical. A case–control experiment shows that both methodologies discriminate between key and less relevant attributes in purchase decisions, and provide reliable qualitative information on the value of an attribute. Peer Discipline and Incentives Within Groups

We investigate how a collusive group can sustain non-Nash actions by enforcing internal discipline through costly peer punishment. We give a simple and tractable characterization of schemes that minimize discipline costs while preserving incentive compatibility. We apply the model to a public goods contribution problem. We find that if the per-capita benefit from the public good is low, then regardless of whether peer discipline is feasible or not only small groups will contribute to the good. This study focuses on the effects of decentralized wage schemes and temporary forms of employment on firm performance. The effect of monetary incentives on workers' effort and firm performance is a central topic in economics. According to the principal-agent paradigm, firms (the principal) have to link employees' remuneration schemes to any verifiable indicator of performance to avoid opportunistic behavior. L’objet de cet article est d’appliquer la theorie des tournois aux joueurs du tennis professionnel masculin. Deux nouveaux indicateurs de mesure de la performance des joueurs sont introduits, afin de prendre en compte le niveau de l’opposition. Les estimations econometriques sont effectuees, par la methode des Moindres Carres Ordinaires, sur l’ensemble des tournois disputes par les 30 meilleurs joueurs classes a l’ATP au cours de l’annee 2007. Does the IPD concept deliver as required and expected, and if not, how can that be explained? This paper is a critical realist inspired methodology based on a combination of the inductive and deductive approaches used in case study research. IPD is based on relational contracting between multiple parties, in this case between the Owner, Contractor, MEP subcontractors and a group of Consulting engineers who share control of the project. During 2006‐2017, Latvia has applied a rather generous accelerated depreciation (AD) policy to stimulate firm investment. The AD policy included: (1) the general AD scheme, (2) incentives to acquire new technological equipment, and (3) Investment incentives in the specially assisted areas. Ukraine has enough biomass resources for biogas production. However, this energy potential is not used sufficiently. This research is aimed at examining the current experience of commercial biogas systems in the Europe Union and its adaptation for Ukraine.
