The main methodological approaches used in cognitive translation process research have hitherto been inspired by methods originally developed in the behavioural sciences, especially psychology. This article contends that mainstream experimental research in laboratory settings needs to be complemented with other methodological approaches such as qualitative, ethnographic research in order to be able to account for the situated, embedded and extended aspects of cognition – as described in current cognitive science approaches. In this article I put forward a sociology of translation informed by the ideas of Pierre Bourdieu. Founded on a theory of action, this theory may be defined as a theory of translation practice. Translation practice is examined here through the study of the translation of symbolic goods, specifically American literature into French. The notions of ‘field’, ‘habitus’ and ‘illusio’ are briefly analysed and applied to American literature in French. The habitus of Marcel Duhamel and Maurice-Edgar Coindreau are examined, as well as the illusio specific to the science-fiction field. En el presente trabajo se plantea el diseño de un recurso lexicográfico multilingüe orientado a médicos y traductores médicos. En la actualidad, no existe ningún recurso que satisfaga a ambos colectivos por igual, debido a que estos poseen necesidades muy diferentes. Sin embargo, partimos de la premisa de que se podría crear una herramienta única, modular, adaptable y flexible, que responda a sus diversas expectativas, necesidades y preferencias. Se parte para ello de un análisis de necesidades siguiendo el método empírico de recogida de datos en línea mediante una encuesta trilingüe.

Los pocos traductores que han intentado hacer una traducción en verso del Fausto de Goethe no han logrado, en la mayoría de los casos, hacer justicia a la diversidad métrica de la obra del autor alemán. Collocation Dictionaries: A Comparative Analysis

The importance of phraseological information in lexicographic resources is experiencing an exponential growth. This is evident in the publication in recent years of a wide variety of combinatorial or collocation dictionaries. This paper describes and compares the main monolingual collocation dictionaries for English and Spanish in regards to the following: (i) types of collocation encoded; (ii) kinds of collocational information offered; (iii) place for collocations in the micro or macrostructure of the dictionary. The objective of this analysis is to study the usefulness of these resources for translators.
Women, translation and censorship in the Franco Regime

This article presents a descriptive study of the incidence of censorship in the translation into Spanish of Larry McMurtry’s opera prima Horseman, Pass By. The novel was translated during Fraga Iribarne’s term of office at the Ministry of Information and Tourism (1962-1969), a period when the incidence of censorship for the Western genre was at its lowest for the dictatorship.
