Electrogeneration of Diiodoaurate in Dimethylsulfoxide on Gold Substrate and Localized Patterning

International audience; A localized etching of gold surface by scanning electrochemical microscope technique is presented where a dimethylsulfoxide-based electrolyte charged with iodine is used. The electrogenerated triiodide ion at the platinum ultramicroelectrode tip (feedback mode) acts as an oxidant for gold surface. The effects of electrode diameter and the bias time have been investigated. The approach curve method was used to hold the electrode tip close to the gold surface. A scanning electron microscope is used to observe the etched gold surfaces where disk-shaped dots are generated. The diameter of these holes depends directly on the Pt electrode diameter and the bias time.
Hygrothermal ageing of reprocessed polylactide

[EN] The influence of an accelerated hygrothermal ageing simulation test on a commercial PLA and its three subsequent mechanically-reprocessed materials was studied. The analysis was focused on the water diffusion kinetics and the physico-chemical changes induced by the hygrothermal degradation. Water diffusion proceeded faster than chain relaxation processes, as defined by a Case II absorption model. It was proved that the water diffusion rate decreased with subsequent reprocessing cycles and increased with higher hygrothermal ageing temperatures. This paper reports on the thermomechanical properties and thermal degradation kinetics of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and polycarbonate (PC) composites filled with cerium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Ce:YAG) at different contents ranging between 0.1 and 5 wt%, and prepared by melt compounding. The interaction between PMMA and the filler was much stronger than that between PC and the filler, and this resulted in a significant improvement in the dynamic mechanical properties of the PMMA composites. When the copolymerization of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and hexafluoropropylene (HFP) is carried out in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO 2) under heterogeneous conditions, the reaction occurs both in the continuous CO 2-rich phase and in the dispersed polymer-rich phase. The two phases being characterized by different values of reactant concentrations and kinetic parameters, one would expect that the reaction kinetics is affected by the polymer phase holdup in the reactor. Model networks of defined crosslink density are prepared via nonradical statistical crosslinking of polybutadiene in bulk and concentrated solution using a masked bistriazolinedione as crosslinker. The kinetics of crosslinking is monitored by FT-IR-spectroscopy. The reaction follows pseudo-1st-order reaction kinetics. The activation parameter of the crosslinking reaction is estimated from crosslinking at various temperatures. The surfactant assisted polymerization of 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone in supercritical carbon dioxide in the presence of Piroxicam, selected as a model of a low aqueous solubility drug, was studied in order to prepare in a single step a polymeric composite to enhance the rate of dissolution of the pharmaceutical compound. Reactive entrapping was carried out at 65 degrees C in the P range 21-38MPa. Under proper operative conditions we obtained the composite under the form of sub-micron spherical particles with relatively narrow particle size distribution.
