1. An automatic bird sound recognition system is a useful tool for collecting data of different bird species for ecological analysis. Together with autonomous recording units (ARUs), such a system provides a possibility to collect bird observations on a scale that no human observer could ever match. Abstract Mammals and birds are capable of navigating to a goal using learned map-like representations of space (i.e. place learning), but research assessing this navigational strategy in reptiles has produced inconclusive results, in part due to the use of procedures that do not take account of the peculiarities of reptilian behavior and physiology. Site quality evaluation by classification tree: an application to cork quality in Sardinia

Cork harvesting and stopper production represent a major forest industry in Sardinia (Italy). The target of the present investigation was to evaluate the ‘‘classification tree’’ as a tool to discover possible relationships between microsite characteristics and cork quality. Seven main cork oak (Quercus suber) producing areas have been identified in Sardinia, for a total of more than 122,000 ha. Sixty-three sample trees, distributed among different geographical locations and microsite conditions, were selected. International audience; Computer aided diagnosis and follow up can help in prevention and treatment of diabetes and its related complications. This paper presents a summary of the results we obtained over the last few years regarding the development of a CAD system for diabetic retinopathy. We present a methodology for diagnosis of DME based on exudates segmentation, as well as an automated detection of micro-aneurysm (MA) and DR diagnosis; Our approach uses standard available public database and shows a high power of generalization through cross database experiments.
