Social Tourism and Healthy Ageing
2015
Recent research in social tourism notes possible links between tourism participation and improvements in health. However, there is a lack of quantitative evidence concerning the potential links between tourism participation and self-reported health amongst older people. An ageing society requires measures to promote independent living and enhance older people's quality of life. This paper provides evidence that older tourists are more active and healthy than non-tourists, from a study comparing health perceptions amongst Spanish older people. The results provide tentative conclusions of causal relationships between tourism and dimensions of physical and mental health through a Structural Eq…
Management des organisations sportives
2015

2004
AbstractThe purpose of this study is to show, how the evaluation process worked, when evaluation method was the multiple constituency evaluation procedure. Policy-analytical evaluation research has in Sport Policy been characterised as being too goal oriented, which causes problems when adapting set goals into concrete assessment criteria, especially in the evaluation of public activi…
Tourism and migration: Identifying the channels with gravity models
2020
As a result of the role played by migrants in supporting host economies, the interest in understanding the impact of migration is growing. However, the literature remains silent on the channels by which migration affects tourism. The present article aims to isolate the effect of migrant networks on tourism by exploring the role of information, travel costs, and demand for visiting friends and relatives. To this end, a theoretical framework that rests upon a structural gravity model is developed. The model allows not only a better understanding of the relationship between tourism and migration but also to overcome several empirical biases like the omission of multilateral resistance in tour…
Exploring travelers’ willingness to pay for green hotels in the digital era
2021
The past few years have witnessed an intensifying effort by hotels to respond to customers’ growing environmental sensitivities. A critical aspect of this market trend is the actual willingness of tourists to pay (WTP) for green products and services offered by green hotels. Previous studies in this research field have mainly focused on the relationship between guests’ attitudes and their behavioral intentions, neglecting the influence of external and situational factors. In light of this, the present paper contributes to knowledge by analyzing the influence of e-Word-of-Mouth (e-WOM) and physical image, as it emerges from digital platforms, and the effect of green hotel attributes on the t…

For a socio-psychological approach of the concept of racial stacking
2015
AbstractResearch studies focusing on the relationships between team sports and socio- ethnicity have developed in the Anglo-Saxon literature since the 1970s. In particular the use of the concept of racial stacking confirms a growing interest in a more complex vision when it comes to player selection and positioning. In basketball, studies have identified that black players are overrepresented in the American professional basketball championships (NBA) and at the same time patterns of racial stacking exist as they are overrepresented at non-central positions. This research led to a survey of black players’ positions in the professional championships in France (Pro A basketball). Using social…
