Prevalence and Sociodemographic Predictors of Mental Health in a Representative Sample of Young Adults from Germany, Israel, Poland, and Slovenia: A …

2022

The aim of this cross-national longitudinal study was to evaluate the prevalence and sociodemographic predictors of mental health indicators (coronavirus-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), perceived stress, anxiety, depression, and suicidal/self-harm ideation) during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in a three-month period among representative samples of young adults from Germany, Israel, Poland, and Slovenia. The participants were 1724 young adults between 20 and 40 years of age (M = 30.74, SD = 5.74). The first measurement (T1) was in February 2021 and the second (T2) was in May–June 2021. The samples were representative of young adults in each country: Germany…

Jeunesse(s) et transitions vers l'âge adulte : quelles permanences, quelles évolutions depuis 30 ans ? XXIVèmes journées du Longitudinal, Marseille, …

2018

Pain Increases the Risk for Sarcopenia in Community-Dwelling Adults: Results From the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing

2023

AbstractBackgroundPain and sarcopenia are common in older people. Cross-sectional studies have reported a significant association between these two conditions, but cohort studies exploring pain as a potential risk factor for sarcopenia are scarce. Given this background, the aim of the present work was to investigate the association between pain (and its severity) at baseline, and the incidence of sarcopenia over 10 years of follow-up in a large representative sample of the English older adult population.MethodsPain was diagnosed using self-reported information and categorized as mild to severe pain at four sites (low back, hip, knee, and feet). Incident sarcopenia was defined as having low …

Social frailty increases the risk of all-cause mortality: A longitudinal analysis of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing

2022

Objectives\ud Social frailty is a common condition in older people, but its consequences are largely unknown. Therefore, in this longitudinal analysis, we aimed to investigate the association between social frailty and risk of all-cause mortality in a large sample of older people.\ud Design\ud Longitudinal, cohort.\ud Settings and participants\ud Older people participating to the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA).\ud Methods\ud Social frailty was defined based on financial difficulty, household status, social activity, and contacts with other people: social frailty was defined as ≥2 points, social pre-frailty (1 point), and robustness (0 points). Survival status during ten years o…

Development and validation of prediction model to estimate 10-year risk of all-cause mortality using modern statistical learning methods: a large pop…

2021

Abstract Background In increasingly ageing populations, there is an emergent need to develop a robust prediction model for estimating an individual absolute risk for all-cause mortality, so that relevant assessments and interventions can be targeted appropriately. The objective of the study was to derive, evaluate and validate (internally and externally) a risk prediction model allowing rapid estimations of an absolute risk of all-cause mortality in the following 10 years. Methods For the model development, data came from English Longitudinal Study of Ageing study, which comprised 9154 population-representative individuals aged 50–75 years, 1240 (13.5%) of whom died during the 10-year follo…

The Stressors-Performance Relationship in Public Accounting Firms: A Longitudinal Study

2021

Purpose: This study aims to examine the causal nature of the suggested correlations between stressors and performance in accounting and auditing firms.Design: A longitudinal study of the relationships between role stressors and performance of 71 chartered public accountants and trainee-chartered accountants surveyed before and after the fiscal period has been conducted using the partial least squares approach.Findings: The variation of stress arousal is positively associated with the variations of role conflict and overload, but not with the variations of role ambiguity and stress arousal. The variation of burnout arousal is positively related to the variation of stress arousal and, unexpec…

2014

The Oculo-auricular Phenomenon in Brain-Stem Disease

1993

The oculo-auricular phenomenon (OAP), as described by Wilson in 1908 [26], consists of bilateral coactivation of external ear muscles during lateral gaze. Two ear muscles are innervated by motoneurons of the medial part of the facial nucleus [9, 25]: the transverse auricular muscle (TAM) (Fig. 1), which adducts and curls the helix of the auricle, and the posterior auricular muscle (Fig. 2), which moves the whole auricle backwards [3, 16, 22].

Conflicto familia-trabajo, autoeficacia y cansancio emocional: un análisis de los efectos longitudinales

2015

Based upon the revised Job Demands and Resources Model (2008) we aim first, to test the relations between work-family conflict and emotional exhaustion across time and second, to determine the role of professional self-efficacy in this relation. A longitudinal study was conducted in two times, with a year of interval in a Spanish Army sample (n = 242). To test the causal relations between work-family and emotional exhaustion three models are tested: normal causal, reversed causal, and causal reciprocal. To test the role of professional self-efficacy in the relation between work-family conflict and emotional exhaustion four alternative models are tested: independence, antecedent, mediation, …
