miRNAs are a large family of non-coding RNAs which play important roles in translational and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression and biological processes. Abnormal expression of miRNAs is related to the initiation and progression of different diseases which make them be promising candidates for early medical diagnostics. Thus, accurate detection of miRNAs has great significance for disorder diagnosis. Triazolopyridines. 14. Substitution reactions of 7-amino[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridines.

Abstract Reaction between 7-aminotriazolopyridines 1 or 2 and sulphuric acid gives hydroxyalkylpyridines 3 and 4 ; bromination gives brominated pyridine 5 or triazolopyridine 6. The anions from amines 1 or 2 are ambident, acylating on N but alkylating on N or on C6; in the latter case triazolylalkenylcyanides 16 – 20 or the 6,6-dialkylated derivative 19 are obtained. An X-ray diffraction study has confirmed structure 19.

Preparation of 2-amino-5-methyl-7H-1,3,4-thiadiazolo[3,2-α]pyrimidin-7-ones

2-Amino substituted 7H-1,3,4-thiadiazolo[3,2-α]pyrimidin-7-ones 11a-e were prepared by the reaction of 2-bromo-5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole (1b) and diketene (8), subsequent cyclocondensation (9b 3b) and displacement of the bromo substituents by the reaction with primary or secondary amines (3b 11a-e). The hydrogen atom 6-H in the heterobicycle 3b is replaced by a Cl or Br atom in the transformation of 3b 14a,b. The 2-bromo-6-chloro compound 14a reacts chemoselectively in the 2-position with dimethylamine (14a 15). The structure elucidations are based on one- and two-dimensional NMR techniques including a heteronuclear NOE measurement.

Exploring reactivity of a bis-sulfonium zirconocene-ate dimer: synthesis of various zwitterionic phosphonium anionic zirconocene complexes

Abstract Formal [3+2] cycloaddition reactions between the bis-sulfonium zirconocene-ate dimer 1a and methylpropiolate, benzaldehyde and carbon disulfide afforded stable zwitterionic phosphonium zirconocene-ate complexes 2–4, respectively, with two orthocondensed five-membered heterocycles. X-ray crystal structure of 4 has been determined. Elemental chalcogens (S, Se, Te) gave rise also to a new variety of five-coordinate zirconium(IV) complexes (5–7) by a formal [3+1] cycloaddition reaction. In these bicyclic zirconates, sulfur is included in a five-membered ring while the second chalcogen is in a four-membered one.

Injection of atoms and molecules in a superfluid helium fountain: Cu and Cu2He(n) (n = 1, ..., ∞).

We introduce an experimental platform designed around a thermomechanical helium fountain, which is aimed at investigating spectroscopy and dynamics of atoms and molecules in the superfluid and at its vapor interface. Laser ablation of copper, efficient cooling and transport of Cu and Cu(2) through helium vapor (1.5 K < T < 20 K), formation of linear and T-shaped Cu(2)-He complexes, and their continuous evolution into large Cu(2)-He(n) clusters and droplets are among the processes that are illustrated. Reflection is the dominant quantum scattering channel of translationally cold copper atoms (T = 1.7 K) at the fountain interface. Cu(2) dimers mainly travel through the fountain unimpeded. How…

Sympathetic neurons can produce and respond to interleukin 6

Neuronal expression of cytokines is an area of active investigation in the contexts of development, disease, and normal neural function. Although cultured rat sympathetic neurons respond very weakly to exogenous interleukin 6 (IL-6), we find that addition of soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R) and IL-6 enhances neuronal survival in the absence of nerve growth factor. Neutralizing monoclonal antibodies against IL-6 block these effects. Addition of IL-6 and sIL-6R also induces a subset of neuropeptide and transmitter synthetic enzyme mRNAs identical to that demonstrated for leukemia inhibitory factor, ciliary neurotrophic factor, and oncostatin M. Unveiling the self-organization mechanism of semiconducting organic molecules onto metallic surfaces is the first step to design hybrid devices in which the self-assembling is exploited to tailor magnetic properties. Dynamical Casimir-Polder interaction between a chiral molecule and a surface

We develop a dynamical approach to study the Casimir-Polder force between a initially bare molecule and a magnetodielectric body at finite temperature. Switching on the interaction between the molecule and the field at a particular time, we study the resulting temporal evolution of the Casimir-Polder interaction. The dynamical self-dressing of the molecule and its population-induced dynamics are accounted for and discussed. In particular, we find that the Casimir-Polder force between a chiral molecule and a perfect mirror oscillates in time with a frequency related to the molecular transition frequency, and converges to the static result for large times.

The composition and physicochemical properties of biological membranes can be altered by diverse membrane integral and peripheral proteins as well as by small molecules, natural and synthetic. Diverse oligonucleotides have been shown to electrostatically interact with cationic and bivalent ion loaded zwitterionic liposomes, leading to the formation of oligonucleotide-liposome aggregates.
