5-Aminosalicylsäure-assoziierte Pankreatitis
2008
Acute pancreatitis with severe belt-like upper abdominal pain developed within 1-4 weeks of starting medication in three patients (29-year-old man with ulcerative colitis; 43-year-old woman and 22-year-old woman with Crohn's disease) treated, for the first time, with 5-aminosalicylic acid (mesalazine), 500 mg three times daily. Concentrations of lipase initially were 545, 1182 and 3000 U/l, and of amylase 243, 449 and 129 U/l, respectively. Symptoms receded within a few hours after the drug had been discontinued, enzyme levels returning to normal in the course of the next 2-3 weeks. On repeating the drug in two of the patients, in lower dosage, the pancreatitis recurred within a few days. T…
Endoscopic ultrasonography findings in autoimmune pancreatitis
2011
Endoscopic ultrasonography is an established diagnostic tool for pancreatic masses and chronic pancreatitis. In recent years there has been a growing interest in the worldwide medical community in autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP), a form of chronic pancreatitis caused by an autoimmune process. This paper reviews the current available literature about the endoscopic ultrasonographic findings of AIP and the role of this imaging technique in the management of this protean disease.
Extensive molecular analysis of patients bearing CFTR-related disorders.
2012
Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR)–related disorders (CFTR-RDs) may present with pancreatic sufficiency, normal sweat test results, and better outcome. The detection rate of mutations is lower in CFTR-RD than in classic CF: mutations may be located in genes encoding proteins that interact with CFTR or support channel activity. We tested the whole CFTR coding regions in 99 CFTR-RD patients, looking for gene mutations in solute carrier (SLC) 26A and in epithelial Na channel (ENaC) in 33 patients who had unidentified mutations. CFTR analysis revealed 28 mutations, some of which are rare. Of these mutations, RT-PCR demonstrated that the novel 1525-1delG impairs exon 10 s…
95. Frühindikation der akuten Pankreatitis: Operativ
1978
2001
UNLABELLED Hereditary pancreatitis is an autosomal dominant disease. Recently, the genetic defect has been mapped to chromosome 7q35 and consists mainly of a point mutation in exon 3 of the cationic trypsinogen gene which causes an Arg(CGC)-His(CAC) substitution at residue 117. In patients with hereditary pancreatitis the estimated cumulative risk for pancreatic carcinoma to age 70 approaches 40 %. Thus, the role of hereditary pancreatitis in the pathogenesis of pancreatic carcinoma is of interest. PATIENTS AND METHODS DNA was extracted from peripheral blood (n = 16), fresh tumor tissue (n = 29) and formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tumor tissue (n = 5) of 50 patients with ductal adenoca…
Disulfide stress and its targets in acute pancreatitis
2014
Under physiological conditions, the balance between ROS production and removal properly maintains the intracellular redox-sensitive signaling as well as the appropriate status of protein thiols and disulfides. However, inflammation among other factors can modify this balance causing a rapid increase in intracellular ROS levels and hence thiol oxidation, eventually leading to oxidative stress. In the case of acute pancreatitis, both redox signaling and oxidative stress seem to contribute to the progression of the severe form of the disease. In this review we will focus on the reversible oxidation of protein cysteines during the course of acute pancreatitis. We describe disulfide stress in an…
Cross-talk between oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory cytokines in acute pancreatitis: a key role for protein phosphatases.
2009
Acute pancreatitis is an acute inflammatory process localized in the pancreatic gland that frequently involves peripancreatic tissues. It is still under investigation why an episode of acute pancreatitis remains mild affecting only the pancreas or progresses to a severe form leading to multiple organ failure and death. Proinflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress play a pivotal role in the early pathophysiological events of the disease. Cytokines such as interleukin 1beta and tumor necrosis factor alpha initiate and propagate almost all consequences of the systemic inflammatory response syndrome. On the other hand, depletion of pancreatic glutathione is an early hallmark of acute pancreat…
Acute pancreatitis in children. An Italian multicentre study
2002
Abstract Aim . To evaluate the clinical, morphological and aetiological aspects of acute pancreatitis in children in Italy. Patients . The hospital records of 50 consecutive patients with acute pancreatitis observed in 5 Italian Pediatric Departments were reviewed. Results . A total of 25 males and 25 females (median age 10.5 years, range 2–17) were studied. Of these patients, 48 (96%) had abdominal pain. The pancreatitis was associated with biliary disease in 10 patients (20%); it was due to viral infection in 6 patients (12%), pancreatic duct abnormalities in 4 (8%), familial chronic pancreatitis in 3 (6%), trauma in 5 (10%) and other causes in 5 (10%); the pancreatitis was of unknown ori…
Exponemos los hallazgos macroscópicos de dos casos mortales de Pancreatitis Aguda Necro-Hemorrágica. hemorrhagic and necrotizing pancreatitis, is an unusual and highly lethal complication in cases of inflammation of the pancreatic gland. The …
Hroniska pankreatīta ķirurģiskās ārstēšanas rezultāti: sešu gadu pieredze Rīgas Austrumu klīniskās universitātes slimnīcas, stacionārā "Gaiļezers"
2022
Ievads.
