2012

ANOTĀCIJA. Ilzes Šūmanes promocijas darbs pedagoģijas zinātnē skolas pedagoģijas apakšnozarē ”Pusaudžu mācību sasniegumus veicinoša mācību vide” izstrādāts Latvijas Universitātes Pedagoģijas, psiholoģijas un mākslas fakultātes Pedagoģijas nodaļā Dr.paed. profesores Rudītes Andersones vadībā laika posmā no 2001. līdz 2011. gadam. Pētījuma aktualitāti nosaka mācīšanās un izglītības kvalitātes paaugstināšanas nepieciešamība. Konstruktīvā mācīšanās procesā īpaša nozīme ir mācību videi, tāpēc nozīmīgi izzināt, kā veidojas tāda mācību vide, kurā skolēniem ir iespēja aktīvi konstruēt savas zināšanas, veidot kompetences. Pusaudžu mācību sasniegumu veicinošu mācību vidi veido 3 mācību vides komponen…

Dzīvesdarbības prasmju pilnveide vispārizglītojošas internātpamatskolas pedagoģiskajā procesā

2015

Engineering students’ conceptions of entrepreneurial learning as part of their education

2015

The purpose of this study was to examine what kinds of conceptions of entrepreneurial learning engineering students expressed in an entrepreneurship course integrated in their study programme. The data were collected during an entrepreneurship course in Estonia that was organised for fourth-year engineering students, using video-recorded group interviews (N = 48) and individual in-depth interviews (N = 16). As a result of the phenomenographic analysis, four qualitatively distinctive conceptions of entrepreneurial learning were discerned. Entrepreneurial learning was seen to involve (1) applying entrepreneurial ideas to engineering, (2) understanding entrepreneurial issues in a new way, (3) …

Overcoming acculturation: physical education recruits' experiences of an alternative pedagogical approach to games teaching

2015

Background: Physical education teacher education (PETE) programmes have been identified as a critical platform to encourage the exploration of alternative teaching approaches by pre-service teachers. However, the socio-cultural constraint of acculturation or past physical education and sporting experiences results in the maintenance of the status quo of a teacher-driven, reproductive paradigm. Previous studies have reported successfully overcoming the powerful influence of acculturation, resulting in a change in PETE students' custodial teaching beliefs and receptiveness to alternative teaching approaches. However, to date, limited information has been reported about how PETE students' accu…

Fostering transformational teacher agency in Finnish teacher education

2018

In this article, we studied how well teacher education in Finland is able to answer the changing needs of the contemporary world. More precisely, we focussed on the question of how well an alternative teacher education model guides teacher students’ agency towards a transformational view of the teaching profession, making it possible for schools to enable social change. This question was studied in the framework of critical social pedagogy. The data for this article was collected ethnographically by observing meetings in the Critical Integrative Teacher Education (CITE) programme at the University of Jyväskylä in 2015–2017. The analysis is based on a theoretical background in which we outli…

Education and Social Structure

2015

In this chapter Education and Social Structure, Jon P. Knudsen argues that the role and effect of education is strongly integrated with social and cultural structures. In order to understand how education works, one has to understand how it interrelates with the norms and structure of the cultural environment it plays into. The chapter calls for a balanced development strategy, where new initiatives are discussed in relation to the social and historical environment it is part of. The focus moves from the university to the region. Of course we cannot assume that all universities are seen as part of regions. Some draw on students and subject matter from a wider world. However, even the region…
