Exogenous and endogenous provocation of psoriasis. A contribution to the Koebner phenomenon.

1974

Previous literature reports as well as own investigations concerning exogenously and endogenously induced Koebner-reactions in psoriatics are presented. The time interval between irritation and the Koebner-reaction is emphasized. It is proposed, that the intensity of the psoriatic reaction is mediated by circulating DHEA-deficiency. Hypothetical models are presented which allow to explain the different developmental rates of psoriatic lesions in relation to the type of irritation, the area affected and the subsequent proliferative responses.

Diagnostic performance of reformatted isotropic thin-section helical CT images in the detection of superior semicircular canal dehiscence

2017

Purpose The purpose of this article is to assess the diagnostic performance of computed tomography (CT) reformatted images for detection of superior semicircular canal (SSC) dehiscence. Material and methods Forty-two patients, with sound- and/or pressure-induced vestibular symptoms, and 42 control participants underwent helical CT examination with a highly collimated beam (0.5 mm). Reformatted images of the vestibular labyrinth were obtained in the standard axial and coronal planes (group A images), and in a plane parallel and perpendicular to the SSC (group B images). Diagnostic performance obtained by evaluating the group A images alone and the group B images alone was analyzed by using t…

Iloprost treatment in patients with Raynaud's phenomenon secondary to systemic sclerosis and the quality of life: a new therapeutic protocol

2006

Objectives: to evaluate the clinical efficacy and the effects on the quality of life of Iloprost, a prostacyclin analogue, used, according to a new protocol, in patients with Raynaud’s phenomenon secondary to Systemic Sclerosis. Methods: in this randomized study we treated 30 patients with Iloprost given by intravenous infusion, at progressively increasing doses (starting from 0.5 ng/Kg/min up 2 ng/Kg/min) over a period of 6 hours a day for ten days in two consecutive weeks, with repeated cycles at regular intervals of three months for 18 months. The results were compared with those obtained in 30 other patients, who had received the same drug but with different posologic schemes. Results: …

Homocysteine levels in patients with primary and secondary Raynaud's phenomenon. Its association with microangiopathy severity

2013

The association between hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) and Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) remains a matter of debate. In 18 primary RP, 23 secondary RP and 41 controls, we investigated homocysteine (Hcy) levels along with biochemical and inflammatory parameters. The Hcy levels in both primary and secondary RP were elevated when compared with controls (p0.05 and p0.01, respectively). As age was higher in secondary RP as compared with controls (p0.01), both primary and secondary RP were age-matched with a corresponding control group, and with Hcy maintaining its statistical significance (p0.05). No differences in creatinine, B12 vitamin or folic acid were observed between groups (p0.05), or in the pr…

Adaptive rational interpolation for point values

2019

Abstract G. Ramponi et al. introduced in Carrato et al. (1997,1998), Castagno and Ramponi (1996) and Ramponi (1995) a non linear rational interpolator of order two. In this paper we extend this result to get order four. We observe the Gibbs phenomenon that is obtained near discontinuities with its weights. With the weights we propose we obtain approximations of order four in smooth regions and three near discontinuities. We also introduce a rational nonlinear extrapolation which is also of order four in the smooth region of the given function. In the experiments we calculate numerically approximation orders for the different methods described in this paper and see that they coincide with th…

Financial Intermediation in Modern Europe Time: Evidence from Romania

2018

In a world governed by complex financial and economic systems, knowing the process of financial intermediation becomes a must. We face times when the process of financial intermediation seems to change nearly as a natural phenomenon. Financial intermediation stakeholders find constantly new ways to interact on behalf of obtaining funds they need and returns they expect and manage risks they try to avoid. The article’s aim is to take a snapshot of a financial intermediation process that manifests in Europe Modern Era, specifically in one EU member like Romania, in contrast with other two EU member – Bulgaria and Croatia. In the same time, we also outline the relation between financial develo…

The Datafication of Hate: Expectations and Challenges in Automated Hate Speech Monitoring.

2020

Laaksonen, S-M.; Haapoja, J.; Kinnunen, T., Nelimarkka, M. & Pöyhtäri, R. (2020, accepted). . Frontiers in Big Data: Data Mining and Management / Critical Data and Algorithm Studies. doi:10.3389/fdata.2020.00003 Hate speech has been identified as a pressing problem in society and several automated approaches have been designed to detect and prevent it. This paper reports and reflects upon an action research setting consisting of multi-organizational collaboration conducted during Finnish municipal elections in 2017, wherein a technical infrastructure was designed to automatically monitor candidates' social media updates for hate speech. The setting allowed us to engage in a 2-fold investiga…

Body, art and spatialization. Ten theses on a phenomenological approach to corporeality in art and politics

2014

The following proposal tries to synthesize ten major theses that explain the multiple levels of experience upon the body. The origin of these considerations is fundamentally philosophical and their consequences affect both the general space of the arts as well as the statute of political philosophy. Phenomenology represents the main theoretical frame of reference. Our ten proposals aim to be a practical resource to unfold a thorough reflection on thought and extension, on the lived body, spatiality and spatialization and its functions of dominion and reaction in the field of politics.

Der Einfluss kondensierter Phosphate auf die Eisen-Resorption

1959
