Rationale and evidence on the use of tocilizumab in COVID-19: a systematic review

Abstract Background Tocilizumab is an IL-6 receptor-blocking agent proposed for the treatment of severe COVID-19. The aim of this systematic review was to describe the rationale for the use of tocilizumab for the treatment of COVID-19 and to summarize the available evidence regarding its efficacy and safety. Photometric and Spectroscopic Properties of Type Ia Supernova 2018oh with Early Excess Emission from the $Kepler$ 2 Observations

Supernova (SN) 2018oh (ASASSN-18bt) is the first spectroscopically-confirmed type Ia supernova (SN Ia) observed in the $Kepler$ field. The $Kepler$ data revealed an excess emission in its early light curve, allowing to place interesting constraints on its progenitor system (Dimitriadis et al. 2018, Shappee et al. 2018b). Here, we present extensive optical, ultraviolet, and near-infrared photometry, as well as dense sampling of optical spectra, for this object. SN 2018oh is relatively normal in its photometric evolution, with a rise time of 18.3$\pm$0.3 days and $\Delta$m$_{15}(B)=0.96\pm$0.03 mag, but it seems to have bluer $B - V$ colors. The coupling of gated-indicator delivery with highly specific biochemical recognition is an innovative strategy for the detection of DNA sequences, able to compete with classical methods which need PCR amplification, in important areas such as point-of-care diagnostics or detection of specific biological contaminations with pathogens. Such comparatively simple and cheap yet highly selective and sensitive assays hold promise for use in less-developed areas of the world.

Biomedicine represents one of the main study areas for dendrimers, which have proven to be valuable both in diagnostics and therapy, due to their capacity for improving solubility, absorption, bioavailability and targeted distribution. Molecular cytotoxicity constitutes a limiting characteristic, especially for cationic and higher-generation dendrimers. Halloysite nanotubes for efficient loading, stabilization and controlled release of insulin

Hypothesis: Oral insulin administration is not actually effective due to insulin rapid degradation, inactivation and digestion by proteolytic enzymes which results in low bioavailability. Moreover insulin is poorly permeable and lack of lipophilicity. These limits can be overcome by the loading of protein in some nanostructured carrier such as halloysite nanotubes (HNTs). Biowaiver Monographs for Immediate Release Solid Oral Dosage Forms: Levetiracetam.

Literature and experimental data relevant for the decision to allow a waiver of in vivo bioequivalence (BE) testing for the approval of immediate release (IR) solid oral dosage forms containing levetiracetam are reviewed. Data on solubility and permeability suggest that levetiracetam belongs to class I of the biopharmaceutical classification system (BCS). Levetiracetam's therapeutic use, its wide therapeutic index, and its favorable pharmacokinetic properties make levetiracetam a valid candidate for the BCS-based biowaiver approach. Purpose The aim of this study was to determine the loading efficiency, physico-chemical stability and release of epirubicin-loaded DC Bead™ (Biocompatibles UK Ltd, a BTG International group company) (bead size 70–150 µm (=DC Bead M1™) and 100–300 µm) after loading with epirubicin solution (2 mg/ml) or reconstituted powder formulation (25 mg/ml) and controlled storage.
