Role of cooperation in the relationship between business internationalisation and international success
2012
Firms’ export success has been a recurrent research topic in the last two decades. The explanatory variables and the models linking them have changed over time, adapting to the reality of the world. This paper is based on the idea that the process of internationalisation has a direct influence on a firm’s export success. It also considers that the variable cooperation with agencies involved in the marketing process has a direct impact on firm export performance and that this determinant factor has not been analysed previously. We develop a model that, as well as taking into account traditional explanatory variables, considers the process of internationalisation and cooperation as a basis fo…
Convergence angles of all-ceramic full crown preparations performed in Dubai private practice
2018
Background This study aimed to determine the degree of taper and total occlusal convergence angles (TOC) for all-ceramic bonded crown preparations carried out by private practitioners in Dubai, UAE. Material and Methods A convenience sample of all-ceramic crown preparations carried out by private dental practitioners were scanned (Carestream CS 3500) from casts and the digital images assessed. The degree of taper was measured on the axial walls of each crown preparation and the bucco-lingual and mesio-distal convergence angles subsequently calculated. Results A total of 154 dentists prepared a total of 206 crown preparations (72 anterior, 134 posterior). The mean convergence angles mesio-di…
Evaluation of accuracy of various impression techniques and impression materials in recording multiple implants placed unilaterally in a partially ed…
2018
Background Various factors like implant angulation, type of impression material and tray type affects the implant impression accuracy. To date limited in-vitro studies were carried out on the implant impression accuracy of unilateral partially edentulous arches. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effects of 0o, 15o and 25o implant angulations on impression accuracy in simulated master casts of unilateral partially edentulous situation using different impression materials and tray selections. Material and Methods 30 replicas (N = 30) of a resin matrix (control) containing four implant analogues placed unilaterally from the midline till the region of second molar at an angulation of…
Applications of the X-ray fluorescence analysis to the cultural patrimony of the Comunidad Valenciana (Spain): Painting, metal and paper
1999
We present examples of the application of the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) to the study of the artistic and cultural patrimony of the Comunidad Valenciana in the following areas: a) Valencian paintings of the XV and XVI centuries; b) silver ornaments coming from Iberian towns (s. III b.C.); c) ink and paper samples in manuscripts and engravings of the XVII and XIX centuries. The non destructive analyses are carried out “in situ” using a XRF system that consists of a tube of X-rays of 50 kV and 1 mA, and a detector of Si(Li) with an energy resolution 140 eV (FWHM at 5.9 keV).

Changes in the Scheduling Process According to Observed Activity-travel Flexibility
2014
Abstract In this work we analyze the reasons for changing pre-planned activities and travels episodes considering the type of modification observed during the scheduling process. Specifically we selected a small sample from those pre-planned episodes that are no executed at all as a pilot study. The data analyzed was collected in the first wave of a weekly activity-travel panel survey carried out in Valencia (Spain) in 2010. Each survey wave consisted on a face-to-face interview to generate a pre-planned activity agenda for the following week, an activity-travel diary implemented on mobile phones to collect activities and travels as they are executed, and in-depth telephone interviews to in…
Search for a Higgs Boson Decaying to Two W Bosons at CDF
2008
We present a search for a Higgs boson decaying to two W bosons in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV center-of-mass energy. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected with the CDF II detector. We find no evidence for production of a Higgs boson with mass between 110 and 200 GeV/c(2), and determine upper limits on the production cross section. For the mass of 160 GeV/c(2), where the analysis is most sensitive, the observed (expected) limit is 0.7 pb (0.9 pb) at 95% Bayesian credibility level which is 1.7 (2.2) times the standard model cross section.
Ceftazidime Determination in Serum by High-pressure Liquid Chromatography
2004
A rapid and sensitive high-pressure liquid chromatographic method with simple sample preparation was developed for the quantitative analysis of the beta-lactam antibiotic ceftazidime (CAS 78439-06-2, Fortum). A good linear relationship was established between the peak area and the amount of ceftazidime injected over a concentration range of 1 to 200 microg/ml. The detection limit of the method was calculated to be 0.9 microg/ml. Stability was shown at 4 degrees C and at -196 degrees C for time periods of 2 h and 84 days, respectively.
It is time to abandon “Expected bladder capacity.” Systematic review and new models for children's normal maximum voided volumes
2013
Background There is an agreement to use simple formulae (expected bladder capacity and other age based linear formulae) as bladder capacity benchmark. But real normal child's bladder capacity is unknown. Aims To offer a systematic review of children's normal bladder capacity, to measure children's normal maximum voided volumes (MVVs), to construct models of MVVs and to compare them with the usual formulae. Methods Computerized, manual and grey literature were reviewed until February 2013. Epidemiological, observational, transversal, multicenter study. A consecutive sample of healthy children aged 5–14 years, attending Primary Care centres with no urologic abnormality were selected. Particip…
Determination of amobarbital and secobarbital in plasma samples using micellar liquid chromatography
2000
A new liquid chromatographic procedure for the determination of amobarbital and secobarbital in plasma samples is proposed. The method uses a Spherisorb octadecylsilane ODS-2 C18 analytical column, a guard column of similar characteristics and 0.04 M CTAB solution buffered at pH 7.5 containing 3% 1-propanol as micellar mobile phase. The UV detection was carried out at 250 nm. Butabarbital was used as internal standard. Plasma samples preparation only required adequate dilution with the mobile phase before injection into the chromatographic system. The limits of detection were 0.2 and 0.4 mg/L for amobarbital and secobarbital, respectively. The proposed method allows the determination of amo…
