EL TEATRO DEL CONFLICTO. PASIONES VIVIENTES EN SICILIA ENTRE PIEDAD POPULAR, POLÍTICAS LOCALES Y NEGOCIO TURÍSTICO

2017

A theoretical study of the collinear reaction F+H2→HF+H using multiconfigurational second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2)

1993

Abstract The second-order perturbation method (CASPT2) with a single state multiconfigurational reference function generated in complete active self-consistent field (CASSCF) calculations has been used to compute the collinear barrier height, saddle point geometry, and exothermicity of the reaction F+H 2 →HF+H. Comparison with full configuration (FCI) calculations with small basis sets shows that the CASPT2 method is capable of reproducing accurately the exact benchmark results correlating seven electrons. Large atomic natural orbital basis sets are used at the seven- and nine-electron level of correlation. With the largest ANO basis set used, F[7s6p5d4f2g]/H[6s5p4d2f], the computed nine-el…

Giuseppe Maggiore

2010

The analysis of the relationship between the Philostratean text and the one of Seneca (only Tragedies), Ovid and Statius confirmed the presence in Philostratus' Imagines of allusions to some Hellenistic lost works (we refer to Callimachus and Nicander) . In addition, thanks to a parallel between…

An extension of the algebra of sets

1973

We shall explain the aim which leads us in the construction of an extended system of the algebra of sets1. The symbol 1. {*:?(*)} denoting the set of these and only these elements of domain of the variable x which satisfy the propositional condition (propositional function or form) ?9 (x)" is in com? mon use nowadays, so that it is adopted in school courses of mathematics in many countries, and in Poland as well. This condition will be said to define the set 1. However, if we admit propositional conditions which are meaningless for some values of their variables then we encounter some difficulties connected with the ex? pression 1. The formulae 2. {x : 9 (*)} = {x : 9 (*)}' 3. {x : 9 (s) v …

New Tendencies of Management and Control of Operational Risk in Financial Institutions

2013

Abstract Nowadays, financial institutions highly recognize a great influence of effective risk management on profit abilities. Therefore risk management became an important part of the financial instrument. According to the latest researches, there still remain problems related to the management of various types of risks. For instance, the Basel Committee of the Bank of International Settlements imposes financial institutions for more intensive devoting their attention to operational risk management problems. Due to the increased intensity of performed financial operations, financial institutions became very vulnerable to operational risks. In many cases, the high level of operational risks…

The effect of vertical ground movement on masonry walls simulated through an elastic–plastic interphase meso-model: a case study

2019

The present paper proposes an interphase model for the simulation of damage propagation in masonry walls in the framework of a mesoscopic approach. The model is thermodynamically consistent, with constitutive relations derived from a Helmholtz free potential energy. With respect to classic interface elements, the internal stress contribute is added to the contact stresses. It is considered that damage, in the form of loss of adhesion or cohesion, can potentially take place at each of the two blocks–mortar physical interfaces. Flow rules are obtained in the framework of the Theory of Plasticity, considering bilinear domains of ‘Coulomb with tension cut-off’ type. The model aims to be a first…

A managerial approach to firms’ networking strategy

2009

As recently pointed out by many authors and companies‟ manager, the company competitiveness is more and more based on the ability of a firm to build strategic and competitive networks with partners and competitors. Nowadays, in a competitive environment, firms are facing challenges such as the growing demand of innovation, the increasing competitiveness and the need to penetrate new markets, by using network strategies. Consequently, such motivations are putting an increasing interest on networking strategy issue, which are becoming an essential strength of company competitive strategy. In this work the most significant theories on firm networking are reviewed and an innovative strategic pe…

New Flexible Probability Distributions for Ranking Data

2015

Recently, several models have been proposed in literature for analyzing ranks assigned by people to some object. These models summarize the liking feeling for this object, possibly also with respect to a set of explanatory variables. Some recent works have suggested the use of the Shifted Binomial and of the Inverse Hypergeometric distribution for modelling the approval rate, while mixture models have been developed for taking into account the uncertainty of the ranking process. We propose two new probabilistic models, based on the Discrete Beta and the Shifted-Beta Binomial distributions, that ensure much flexibility and allow the joint modelling of the scale (approval rate) and the shape …
