2014
Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap -Universitetet i Agder 2014 The aim of this master's project was to investigate changes in physical activity levels and relative physical fitness among Norwegian children over a period of 10 years. 55 six year old Norwegian children were tested using a comprehensive test battery from Fjørtoft et al (2011). A questionnaire that was used to answer research questions referred to physical activity and sport participation. The same tests and measurements were performed at 13 years (n = 45) and 16 years (n = 34), (i.e. seven and ten years later, respectively). Experienced parental support in terms of participation in physical activity was also measured. The sample w…
Frikjøreres atferd og egenskaper : en undersøkelse av relasjonen mellom risikotaking, sensation seeking og mental tøffhet på frikjørere
2014
Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap- Universitetet i Agder 2014 The aim of this study was to determine freeskiers mental toughness, sensation seeking and risk taking behavior and if mental toughness or sensation seeking can predict a risk taking behavior. 37 athletes from The Norway Freeride Cup conducted the questionnaire. A correlation and regression analysis was used to examine the theses. The results showed that freeskiers are mentally tough, sensation seekers and risk takers. Sensation seeking proves to be a predictor for a risk taking behavior. Especially the scale “Boredom Susceptibility” (SS-BS) showed a high correlation to risk taking behavior. Mental toughness could not predict a risk …

Cardiovascular responses to dynamic and static upper-body exercise in a cold environment in coronary artery disease patients
2021
Abstract Purpose Upper-body exercise performed in a cold environment may increase cardiovascular strain, which could be detrimental to patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). This study compared cardiovascular responses of CAD patients during graded upper-body dynamic and static exercise in cold and neutral environments. Methods 20 patients with stable CAD performed 30 min of progressive dynamic (light, moderate, and heavy rating of perceived exertion) and static (10, 15, 20, 25 and 30% of maximal voluntary contraction) upper body exercise in cold (− 15 °C) and neutral (+ 22 °C) environments. Heart rate (HR), blood pressure (BP) and electrocardiographic (ECG) responses were recorded an…
Physical activity levels in adults and elderly from triaxial and uniaxial accelerometry. The Tromsø study
2019
Introduction - Surveillance of physical activity at the population level increases the knowledge on levels and trends of physical activity, which may support public health initiatives to promote physical activity. Physical activity assessed by accelerometry is challenged by varying data processing procedures, which influences the outcome. We aimed to describe the levels and prevalence estimates of physical activity, and to examine how triaxial and uniaxial accelerometry data influences these estimates, in a large population-based cohort of Norwegian adults. Methods - This cross-sectional study included 5918 women and men aged 40–84 years who participated in the seventh wave of the Tromsø St…
