Nella ormai nutrita bibliografia critica sull’opera di Maria Accascina, cui l’arte siciliana nel suo complesso deve il suo definitivo riconoscimento come fenomeno europeo, si tace su un precoce saggio che la studiosa siciliana pubblica su una delle più prestigiose riviste dell’avanguardia europea già all’inizio della sua carriera nel 1930. Effective Majorana mass matrix from tau and pseudoscalar meson lepton number violating decays

An observation of any lepton number violating process will undoubtedly point towards the existence of new physics and indirectly to the clear Majorana nature of the exchanged fermion. In this work, we explore the potential of a minimal extension of the Standard Model via heavy sterile fermions with masses in the $[ 0.1 - 10]$ GeV range concerning an extensive array of "neutrinoless" meson and tau decay processes. We assume that the Majorana neutrinos are produced on-shell, and focus on three-body decays. International audience; The Borexino detector has convincingly shown its outstanding performances in the low energy, sub-MeV regime through its unprecedented accomplishments in the solar and geo-neutrinos detection. CeSOX: An experimental test of the sterile neutrino hypothesis with Borexino

International audience; The third phase of the Borexino experiment that’s referred to as SOX is devoted to test the hypothesis of the existence of one (or more) sterile neutrinos at a short baseline (~5–10m). The experimental measurement will be made with artificial sources namely with a 144Ce–144Pr antineutrino source at the first stage (CeSOX) and possibly with a 51Cr neutrino source at the second one. The fixed 144Ce–144Pr sample will be placed beneath the detector in a special pit and the initial activity will be about 100 – 150 kCi. The start of data taking is scheduled for April 2018. In the sterilization of those Health Care Waste that are marked as possibly infectious, microwaves (MW) have long been proposed as an alternative means to steam. The effectiveness of the operation is assessed determining the fraction that has survived to the sterilizing agent of a known starting population of micro-organisms. Il presente saggio mira ad illustrare l’intervento di restauro, curato da un’équipe di lavoro coordinata da Roberto Calandra, del trecentesco Palazzo Chiaramonte, da adibire a sede del rettorato dell’Università di Palermo. Il lavoro offre un significativo contributo alla maturazione della cultura architettonica negli anni tra il 1972 e il 1998 (durata del cantiere) ponendosi in una posizione di equilibrio tra le asserzioni della Carta del restauro del 1972, di matrice brandiana, e le nuove pulsioni di una conservazione integrale.
