La “religione mediterranea”. Un problema storico-religioso tra storia e ideologia

i modelli interpretativi utilizzati dagli studiosi talvolta tendono a ipostatizzarsi, creando "realtà" storiche inesistenti. E' il caso della "Grande Madre" mediterranea, frutto di una lunga tradizione che nasce nell‘Ottocento e vede contrapposti visioni diverse del mondo antico, da Bachofen ad Engels fino all‘importante ruolo culturale svolto dal movimento modernista e la nascita della storia delle religioni in Italia.

Après une introduction visant à établir un état de la question sur la nature, la fonction rituelle, la chronologie et le contexte de production des Hymnes orphiques, on s’efforcera de reconstruire l’arrière-plan philosophique et littéraire qui soutient la représentation de Némésis par des références aux philosophies de Platon et d’Aristote, et à la tradition sapientiale grecque qui se rattache à la morale delphique. In chant IX of Iliad there is the long digression of Phoenix, Achilles’ pedagogue, and plays a strategic role, as is recognized by almost all scholars. For this reason, the mise en abyme is a tool to explore the ambiguous relationship between language and reality, which remain central to the relationship between Phoenix and Achilles. The mise en abyme reveals the sense of vertigo mirror between teacher and student, becoming a metaphor and representation of masterful strategy in which the teacher / parent connection, enacts generative operation and produces a continuous exchange of roles. Phoenix, teacher and “parent”, is a fragile figure, oscillating between authority and weakness.

This article aims at exploring the imperfect and deformed anthropomorphism of three different divine figures: two of them are evoked in the Homeric poems and the third one in Herodotus work. They are: Ate, the blind madness, who confuses people with disastrous consequences; the Litai, who are the implorations always prepared to follow Ate; and finally Horkos’ son, Oath’s child who condemns perjurers to oblivion. All these divine figures are characterised by their physical deformations or weaknesses, which, when analysed closely, reveal themselves to be a mark of their power. For Greek lexicographers, the verb 'maschalisthenai', which appears only in Aeschylus and Sophocles, refers to certain details of the murder of Agamemnon by his wife Clytemnestra.The ancient tradition on "maschalismos" has become in the modern age a bone of contention among scholars around the study of Greek religion, in particular concerning the relationship with death and the underworld. This contribution examines the different interpretations of "maschalismos" proposed by Erwin Rohde and Raffaele Pettazzoni and their different perspectives on the comparison.
