Three Co(II) Metal-Organic Frameworks with Diverse Architectures for Selective Gas Sorption and Magnetic Studies.

2019

Three Co(II) metal–organic frameworks, namely, {[Co2(L)2(OBA)2(H2O)4]·xG}n (1), {[Co(L)0.5(OBA)]·xG}n (2), and {[Co2(L)2(OBA)2(H2O)]·DMA·xG}n (3) [where L = 2,5-bis(3-pyridyl)-3,4-diaza-2,4-hexadiene, H2OBA = 4,4′-oxybisbenzoic acid, DMF = dimethylformamide, DMA = dimethylacetamide, and G denotes disordered guest molecules], have been synthesized under diverse reaction conditions through self-assembly of a bent dicarboxylate and a linear spacer with a Co(II) ion. While 1 is crystallized at room temperature in DMF to form a 2D layer structure, 2 is formed by the assembly of similar components under solvothermal conditions with a 3D network structure. On the other hand, changing the solvent t…

Magnetostructural correlations in CuII−NC−WV linkage: the case of [CuII(diimine)]2+−[WV(CN)8]3− 0D assemblies

2009

International audience; We report on the syntheses, crystal structures, and magnetic properties of two cyano-bridged molecular assemblies: [CuII(phen)3]2{[CuII(phen)2]2[WV(CN)8]2}(ClO4)2·10H2O (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) (1) and {[CuII(bpy)2]2[WV(CN)8]} {[CuII(bpy)2][WV(CN)8]}·4H2O (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridyl) (2). Compound 1 consists of cyano-bridged [CuII2WV2]2− molecular rectangles and isolated [CuII(phen)3]2+ complexes. The molecular structure of 2 reveals cyano-bridged trinuclear [CuII2WV]+ and dinuclear [CuIIWV]− ions. Magnetic interactions in 1 are interpreted in terms of the model of a tetranuclear moiety consisting of two ferromagnetic CuII−NC−WV units (J1 = +39(4) cm−1) interacting ant…

Cytosine Nucleobase Ligand: A Suitable Choice for Modulating Magnetic Anisotropy in Tetrahedrally Coordinated Mononuclear CoII Compounds

2017

A family of tetrahedral mononuclear CoII complexes with the cytosine nucleobase ligand is used as the playground for an in-depth study of the effects that the nature of the ligand, as well as their noninnocent distortions on the Co(II) environment, may have on the slow magnetic relaxation effects. Hence, those compounds with greater distortion from the ideal tetrahedral geometry showed a larger-magnitude axial magnetic anisotropy (D) together with a high rhombicity factor (E/D), and thus, slow magnetic relaxation effects also appear. In turn, the more symmetric compound possesses a much smaller value of the D parameter and, consequently, lacks single-ion magnet behavior.

Metal Complexes of Two Specific Regions of ZnuA, a Periplasmic Zinc(II) Transporter from Escherichia coli

2020

The crystal structure of ZnZnuA from Escherichia coli reveals two metal binding sites. (i) The primary binding site, His143, is located close the His-rich loop (residues 116-138) and plays a significant role in Zn(II) acquisition. (ii) The secondary binding site involves His224. In this work, we focus on understanding the interactions of two metal ions, Zn(II) and Cu(II), with two regions of ZnuA, which are possible anchoring sites for Zn(II): Ac-115MKSIHGDDDDHDHAEKSDEDHHHGDFNMHLW145-NH2 (primary metal binding site) and Ac-223GHFTVNPEIQPGAQRLHE240-NH2 (secondary metal binding site). The histidine-rich loop (residues 116-138) has a role in the capture of zinc(II), which is then further deliv…

Synthesis, Crystal Structures, and Magnetic Properties of Two Novel Cyanido-Bridged Heterotrimetallic {CuIIMnIICrIII} Complexes

2017

The self-assembly process between the heteroleptic [CrIII(phen)(CN)4]− and [CrIII(ampy)(CN)4]− metalloligands and the heterobimetallic {CuII(valpn)MnII}2+ tecton afforded two heterotrimetallic complexes of formula [{CuII(valpn)MnII(μ-NC)2CrIII(phen)(CN)2}2{(μ-NC)CrIII(phen)(CN)3}2]·2CH3CN (1) and {[CuII(valpn)MnII(μ-NC)2CrIII(ampy)(CN)2]2·2CH3CN}n (2) [phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, ampy = 2-aminomethylpyridine, and H2valpn = 1,3-propanedyilbis(2-iminomethylene-6-methoxyphenol)]. The crystal structure of 1 consists of neutral CuII2MnII2CrIII4 octanuclear units, where two [Cr(phen)(CN)4]− anions act as bis-monodentate ligands through cyanide groups toward two manganese(II) ions from two [CuII(v…

A two-dimensional coordination polymer constructed from binuclear copper(II) metalloligands and manganese(II) ions: Synthesis, crystal structure and …

2016

Abstract The self-assembly process between the binuclear [Cu2(HL)(L)]− complex and the manganese(II) ion affords a two-dimensional coordination polymer of formula [Mn{Cu2(HL)(L)}2(H2O)2]n (1) (H3L = 3-hydroxyiminomethylsalicylic acid) where parallel ladder-like motifs of defective double cubanes of bis(phenoxo)dicopper(II) units as rods and anti-syn carboxylato bridges as rungs act as ligands towards tetraaqua-manganese(II) entities through the deprotonated oxime groups. The topology of 1 is compared with the one of another compound, [Mn{Cu2(HL)(L)}2(H2O)4]·4H2O·2DMF (1′) which was obtained in different conditions by Okawa et al. (J. Chem. Soc., Dalton Trans. (2001) 3119). Magnetic suscepti…

Determining Factors for the Unfolding Pathway of Peptides, Peptoids, and Peptidic Foldamers.

2016

We present a study of the mechanical unfolding pathway of five different oligomers (α-peptide, β-peptide, δ-aromatic-peptides, α/γ-peptides, and β-peptoids), adopting stable helix conformations. Using force-probe molecular dynamics, we identify the determining structural factors for the unfolding pathways and reveal the interplay between the hydrogen bond strength and the backbone rigidity in the stabilization of their helix conformations. On the basis of their behavior, we classify the oligomers in four groups and deduce a set of rules for the prediction of the unfolding pathways of small foldamers.

Catalytic Asymmetric Reactions Involving the Seven-Membered Cyclic Imine Moieties Present in Dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepines

2017

The dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepine scaffold is a privileged structure in medicinal chemistry that displays a wide variety of biological and pharmacological activities. However, catalytic asymmetric methodologies for the synthesis of chiral dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepine derivatives are scarce in the literature. This microreview presents an overview of enantioselective reactions in which these cyclic seven-membered imines are used as electrophiles, including their substrate scope, limitations and application to the synthesis of related compounds.

Conformational Control of Metallocene Backbone by Cyclopentadienyl Ring Substitution: a New Concept in Polyphosphane Ligands Evidenced by “Through-Sp…

2009

The present study deals with the conformational control of the metallocene backbone within ferrocenyl polyphosphane ligands and their performance in the highly topical palladium-catalyzed heteroaromatics arylation by direct C−H activation. New substituted cyclopentadienyl rings were synthesized, which allowed the assembling of original tri- and diphosphanes. The bulky cyclopentadienyl lithium salts diphenylphosphino-3-(triphenyl)methylcyclopentadienyllithium (4) and 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)-4-(triphenyl)methylcyclopentadienyllithium (5) were prepared in excellent yield. The assembling of these new hindered cyclopentadienyl salts (Cp) with other Cp fragments was performed in order to prepa…

Molybdenum Pentachloride Mediated Synthesis of Spirocyclic Compounds by Intramolecular Oxidative Coupling

2015

The oxidative treatment of (m)ethyl 2-aryl cinnamates equipped with methoxy groups in position 4 of the phenyl moiety promote the formation of cyclohexadienone substructures. This dealkylative oxidative C–C coupling gives access to spirocyclic compounds and avoids the construction of the corresponding phenanthrenes. Furthermore, the transformation can be expanded to other spirocyclic systems.
