International audience; The nature of quadrupole and octupole collectivity in $^{222}$Rn was investigated by determining the electric-quadrupole (E2) and octupole (E3) matrix elements using subbarrier, multistep Coulomb excitation. The radioactive $^{222}$Rn beam, accelerated to 4.23 MeV/u, was provided by the HIE-ISOLDE facility at CERN. Data were collected in the Miniball $\gamma$ -ray spectrometer following the bombardment of two targets, $^{120}$Sn and $^{60}$Ni. Transition E2 matrix elements within the ground-state and octupole bands were measured up to 10 ¯h and the results were consistent with a constant intrinsic electric-quadrupole moment, 518(11) $e$ fm$^2$ . Este trabajo aborda el análisis de los discursos de jóvenes que han tenido dificultades en su itinerario educativo y que han participado en “itinerarios de segunda oportunidad”. A partir de entrevistas a jóvenes, pretendemos aproximarnos a los argumentos desde los que dan sentido a sus itinerarios académicos y a las decisiones a las que se han enfrentado. Estos argumentos muestran fuertes implicaciones de la posición social de los actores, y están influidos por agentes de la institución educativa y familiar. En ese marco los jóvenes van configurando unas expectativas de futuro. Estas expectativas se debaten entre tres vías: salidas a espacios laborales poco cualificados y precarios, aunque …

Measuring the age of molecular clouds and prestellar cores is a difficult task that has not yet been successfully accomplished although the information is of paramount importance to help in understanding and discriminating between different formation scenarios. Most chemical clocks suffer from unknown initial conditions and are therefore difficult to use. We propose a new approach based on a subset of deuterium chemistry that takes place in the gas phase and for which initial conditions are relatively well known. Abstract Objectives This study explores gendered experiences of the mastery stage in endurance runners' athletic careers in terms of (a) key themes in this period of life, (b) retirement decision-making and (c) changes in athletic and runner identities. Design and method Ten male and nine female athletes aged between 25 and 62 participated in individual interviews. The data were analyzed via thematic narrative analysis. Noise-induced behavioral change driven by transient chaos

We study behavioral change in the context of a stochastic, non-linear consumption model with preference adjusting, interdependent agents. Changes in long-run consumption behavior are modelled as noise induced transitions between coexisting attractors. A particular case of multistability is considered: two fixed points, whose immediate basins have smooth boundaries, coexist with a periodic attractor, with a fractal immediate basin boundary. If a trajectory leaves an immediate basin, it enters a set of complexly intertwined basins for which final state uncertainty prevails. We have investigated the heterogeneity of the Fe(III)–Met80 linkage of horse heart ferricytochrome c by probing the 695 nm charge transfer band with absorption and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy. In order to verify the connection between conformational substates of the Fe(III)–Met80 linkage and the 695 nm band spectral heterogeneity, we have performed experiments as a function of pH (neutral and acidic) and temperature (room and 20 K). At room temperature, the ECD spectrum is blue shifted with respect to the absorption one; the shift is more pronounced at acidic pH and is compatible with the presence of sub-bands.
