AbstractThe workshop of scientific medical faculties (Arbeitsgemeinschaft wissenschaftlicher medizinischer Fakultäten [AWMF]) of Germany has asked societies of specific medical disciplines to jointly publish guidelines on the treatment of diseases and injuries. On behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurochirurgie, its commission on guidelines initiated an interdisciplinary approach to publish guidelines on the treatment of head injury in adults. These guidelines were published in German by the AWMF in late 2015. Because these guidelines have received widespread attention in Germany and became fundamental for research in head injuries, we have translated the German version into English …
Chimney and periscope grafts to facilitate endovascular treatment of aortic transection in a patient with aberrant right subclavian artery

Purpose: To report the use of parallel grafts to extend the proximal landing zone for stentgraft repair of aortic transection involving an aberrant right subclavian artery (ARSA). Case Report: A 28-year-old patient was referred for treatment of traumatic aortic transection with contained rupture at the level of an ARSA. Immediate thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) was planned because of hemodynamic instability. To achieve rapid sealing and maintain perfusion to both subclavian arteries, a chimney stent to the left subclavian artery (LSA) and a periscope stent-graft to the ARSA were deployed successfully. Influence of the level of arterial resection on the replanting and revascularization results in hand surgery: prospective study over 22 months

Abstract The objective of this work was to assess whether the injury mechanisms are responsible for histological arterial lesions. This prospective single-center study included adults with wrist or hand arterial injury. Arterial resection of at least 2 mm from the proximal and distal stumps was performed before the arterial anastomosis. Histological analysis of the arterial stumps was performed. An ultrasound was performed 1 month postoperatively to check arterial patency. A clinical and functional evaluation was done at 1 month postoperative, then every 3 months. Par spīti arvien plašākām diagnostikas, prevencijas un ārstēšanas iespējām, akūts nieru bojājums joprojām ir nozīmīga smagas termiskas traumas komplikācija ar augstu incidenci un mirstību. Objective Addiction is often considered a dissociative behavior that is related to alexithymia and developmental trauma. The study aims were to explore the relationships between early trauma, alexithymia, and dissociation. Methods A total of 117 (males=60; females=57) alcohol-addicted individuals and 117 healthy individuals (males=60; females=57) were administered a series of self-report questionnaires that assess traumatic experiences, alexithymia, and pathological dissociation. Tutkielmassa tarkastelen siirtokarjalaisten jälkeläisten tulkintoja Karjalasta ja karjalaisuudesta. Vastaajien tulkinnat olen kerännyt verkkomuotoisella kyselyllä, johon vastasi 415 siirtokarjalaisten jälkeläistä. Vertailen saamiani vastauksia ajankohtaisten Karjala-tutkimusten ja yleisesti käytävän Karjala-keskustelun tuottamiin mielikuviin Karjalasta sekä omiin tulkintoihini karjalaisena. Zelta standarts intrahospitālās infekcijas un sepses diagnostikā, pacientiem ar apdeguma traumu, vēl joprojām balstās uz mikrobioloģisko izmeklēšanu, kura var aizkavēt antibakteriālas terapijas uzsākšanas laiku. Līdz ar to ir mērķtiecīgi atrast prognostisko faktoru, kurš var agrīni norādīt uz intrahospitālas infekcijas attīstību, pacientiem ar smagu apdeguma traumu. Objectives: To ascertain factors associated with worsening of psychiatric conditions during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods: This study anonymously examined 2,734 psychiatric patients worldwide for worsening of their preexisting psychiatric conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic. An independent clinical investigation of 318 psychiatric patients from United States was used for verification.
