Agent-based modelling of values: the case of value sensitive design for refugee logistics

We have used value sensitive design as a method to develop an agent-based model of values in humanitarian logistics for refugees. Schwartz's theory of universal values is implemented in the model in such a way that agents can make value trade-offs, which are operationalized into a measure of refugee wellbeing and a measure of public opinion about how the refugee logistics is being handled. By trying out different ‘value-scenarios’, stakeholders who are responsible for, or involved in refugee logistics can have insights into the effects of various value choices. Online value creation in small service businesses: the importance of experience valence and personal values

Perceived value is of great interest in current marketing research. However, in the area of Internet as a shopping channel of small businesses, there has been little analysis of customer perceived value and its determinants. This paper examines two little analysed aspects of value creation, experience valence and personal values. The analysis of data from a survey of tourism service purchase shows that experience valence, in terms of relevant information, ease of use and customer service, clearly influences perceived value after the online shopping experience. In contrast, only personal values of sense of security and sense of accomplishment influence perceived value.

Feature selection technology can improve the modeling accuracy and reduce model’s complexity, especially for the high dimensional spectral data. Aim at this problem, feature selection approach based on mutual information (MI) and partial least square (PLS) is proposed in this paper. MI values between features and responsible variable are calculated, and the threshold value using to select final features is optimal selected based on PLS algorithm. One-dimensional nonlinear boundary value problems with variable exponent

In this paper, a class of nonlinear differential boundary value problems with variable exponent is investigated. The existence of at least one non-zero solution is established, without assuming on the nonlinear term any condition either at zero or at infinity. The approach is developed within the framework of the Orlicz-Sobolev spaces with variable exponent and it is based on a local minimum theorem for differentiable functions.

Aims: To develop a consistent ecological indicator value system for Europe for five of the main plant niche dimensions: soil moisture (M), soil nitrogen (N), soil reaction (R), light (L) and temperature (T). Study area: Europe (and closely adjacent regions). Methods: We identified 31 indicator value systems for vascular plants in Europe that contained assessments on at least one of the five aforementioned niche dimensions.
