Topical Maintenance Treatments in Chronic Dermatitis
2020
Abstract The epidemiological importance of chronic dermatitis is constantly growing, this pathology being more and more common regardless of age, in most countries of the world. The pathogenesis of chronic dermatitis is complex and involves aeroallergens, immunological, dietary, climatic and psychosomatic factors. Due to the frequent recurrences but also the side effects of allopathic medicines, the number of patients with chronic dermatitis who opt for alternative treatments is increasing. In this paper we have identified allopathic topical treatments versus alternative topical treatments used in chronic dermatitis for which there is scientific evidence. The PubMed and Research Gate databa…

Therapiemöglichkeiten bei der IgE-vermittelten Nahrungsmittel-Allergie
2002

Cutaneous manifestations in COVID‐19: a new contribution
2020
Abstract We have read with great interest Dr Recalcati’s review about skin manifestations in COVID‐19 as it is the first report on this subject1. In a recent review on clinical characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019 in China, rash was observed in 0,2% of cases2. However, from the trained eyes of a dermatologist, this percentage may be higher.
COMBINATION OF ARGAN OIL AND PHOSPHOLIPIDS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN EFFECTIVE LIPOSOME-LIKE FORMULATION ABLE TO IMPROVE SKIN HYDRATION AND ALLANTOIN…
2016
Allantoin is traditionally employed in the treatment of skin ulcers and hypertrophic scars. In the present work, to improve its local deposition in the skin and deeper tissues, allantoin was incorporated in conventional liposomes and in new argan oil enriched liposomes. In both cases, obtained vesicles were unilamellar, as confirmed by cryo-TEM observation, but the addition of argan oil allowed a slight increase of the mean diameter (∼130nm versus ∼85nm). The formulations, especially those containing argan oil, favoured the allantoin accumulation in the skin, in particular in the dermis (∼8.7μg/cm(2)), and its permeation through the skin (∼33μg/cm(2)). The performances of vesicles as skin d…
Endovenous ablation of refluxing saphenous and perforating veins.
2017
Abstract. Since the end of the nineties endovenous thermal ablation and more recently non-thermal, non-tumescent techniques have been developed and improved. Until now, because of their favourable side effect profile in conjunction to sustained efficacy, in many countries they already replaced high ligation and stripping in the treatment of refluxing saphenous veins as well as for treatment of perforators and selected tributaries. Now, studies and comparative trials are available with long-term follow-ups for most of the techniques, providing valid data on occlusion and reflux rates, side effect profiles, and health related quality of life.
Efficacy of 595- and 1319-nm pulsed dye laser in the treatment of acne vulgaris: a narrative review
2020
Acne is one of the commonest problems of adolescence with almost half of the patients experiencing persistence into adulthood. Pulsed dye lasers (PDL) with wavelengths of 585 and 595 nm targeting hemoglobin have been used for the treatment of this condition and its sequelae. Recent introduction of PDL with a higher wavelength of 1319 nm has been reported to offer some benefit to acne patients. We reviewed the literature on the use of 595-nm and 1319-nm PDL in the management of acne. A PubMed literature search for search terms "pulsed dye laser," "acne laser therapy," "light therapy for acne," "595 nm and acne," "1319 nm and acne" was done. Studies, series and case reports were included. The…
A recurrent TP63 mutation causing EEC3 and Rapp–Hodgkin syndromes
2016
The ectrodactyly, ectodermal dysplasia, and cleft lip/palate syndrome 3 (EEC3; OMIM #604292), the Rapp-Hodgkin syndrome (RHS), and various other syndromes are caused by mutations in the TP63 gene, which encodes a p53-like transcription factor. Here, we report on a woman aged 37 years and her daughter aged 3 years with the previously reported c.1028G>A (p.Arg343Gln) mutation in exon 8 of TP63. The mother lacked ectrodactyly, indicating a diagnosis of RHS, whereas the girl presented with all three major features (ectrodactyly, ectodermal dysplasia, clefting) and different minor features (including small and brittle nails, and recurrent conjunctivitis believed to be because of stenotic and blo…
