Dynamic assessment of word derivational knowledge: Tracing the development of a learner

The present paper reports on a case study that explored the applicability of dynamic assessment (DA) for promoting learners’ word derivational knowledge in English as a second or a foreign language (L2). One learner’s performance on tasks assessing his word derivational knowledge was measured four times. The first two measurements were conducted before and after three weekly human-mediated DA sessions and the last two, which took place a year and a half later, before and after three weekly computerised DA sessions. Background: We examined effects of trait self‐control, constructs from social cognition theories, and intentions on health behaviours. Trait self‐control was expected to predict health behaviour indirectly through theory constructs and intentions. Trait self‐control was also predicted to moderate the intention–behaviour relationship. The paper presents a close reading of The Day of the Owl originating f rom the perspective of semiotic literary theory. It is possible to observe three strategies in the text: enigma, suspense, and dilemma. Whereas the first two cover the unmasking of the truth – following the tradition in crime novels –, the third strategy is particular to the Sciascian contextual crime novel, focused on the semantic instability of values that are the foundation of the social contract. From this starting point, this essay seeks to show that the ‘first novel on Mafia’ is also the first novel that tackles the issue of the Anti-Mafia.

La separazione dei poteri è un criterio ordinatore dell’ordinamento costituzionale che, tuttavia, non è osservato nel diritto positivo in modo assoluto. Questa sovrapposizione tra funzioni e poteri può considerarsi fisiologica rispetto ad una realtà ordinamentale complessa. Central serotonergic and dopaminergic systems play a critical role in the regulation of normal and abnormal behaviours. Moreover, recent evidence suggests that the dysfunction of dopamine (DA) and serotonin (5-hydroxytriptamine, 5-HT) neurotransmission might underlie the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders, including depression, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, drug abuse, Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome and Parkinson's disease.
