Positive solutions for singular double phase problems

2021

Abstract We study the existence of positive solutions for a class of double phase Dirichlet equations which have the combined effects of a singular term and of a parametric superlinear term. The differential operator of the equation is the sum of a p-Laplacian and of a weighted q-Laplacian ( q p ) with discontinuous weight. Using the Nehari method, we show that for all small values of the parameter λ > 0 , the equation has at least two positive solutions.

A two-phase problem with Robin conditions on the free boundary

2020

We study for the first time a two-phase free boundary problem in which the solution satisfies a Robin boundary condition. We consider the case in which the solution is continuous across the free boundary and we prove an existence and a regularity result for minimizers of the associated variational problem. Finally, in the appendix, we give an example of a class of Steiner symmetric minimizers. peerReviewed

On a class of languages with holonomic generating functions

2017

We define a class of languages (RCM) obtained by considering Regular languages, linear Constraints on the number of occurrences of symbols and Morphisms. The class RCM presents some interesting closure properties, and contains languages with holonomic generating functions. As a matter of fact, RCM is related to one-way 1-reversal bounded k-counter machines and also to Parikh automata on letters. Indeed, RCM is contained in L-NFCM but not in L-DFCM, and strictly includes L-CPA. We conjecture that L-DFCM subset of RCM

Integrability of the one dimensional Schrödinger equation

2018

We present a definition of integrability for the one dimensional Schroedinger equation, which encompasses all known integrable systems, i.e. systems for which the spectrum can be explicitly computed. For this, we introduce the class of rigid functions, built as Liouvillian functions, but containing all solutions of rigid differential operators in the sense of Katz, and a notion of natural boundary conditions. We then make a complete classification of rational integrable potentials. Many new integrable cases are found, some of them physically interesting.

Frames for fusions of modal logics

2018

Let us consider multimodal logics and . We assume that is characterised by a class of connected frames, and there exists an -frame with a so-called -starting point. Similarly, the logic is characterised by a class of connected frames, and there exists an -frame with a -starting point. Using isomorphic copies of the frames and , we construct a connected frame which characterises the fusion . The frame thus obtained has some useful properties. Among others, is countable if both and are countable, and there is a special world of the frame such that any formula is valid in the frame if and only if it is valid at the point . We also describe a similar construction where we assume the existence o…

The arithmetic decomposition of central Cantor sets

2018

Abstract Every central Cantor set of positive Lebesgue measure is the arithmetic sum of two central Cantor sets of Lebesgue measure zero. Under some mild condition this result can be strengthened by stating that the summands can be chosen to be C s regular if the initial set is of this class.

Solutions of nonlinear PDEs in the sense of averages

2012

Abstract We characterize p-harmonic functions including p = 1 and p = ∞ by using mean value properties extending classical results of Privaloff from the linear case p = 2 to all pʼs. We describe a class of random tug-of-war games whose value functions approach p-harmonic functions as the step goes to zero for the full range 1 p ∞ .

Relaxation for a Class of Control Systems with Unilateral Constraints

2019

We consider a nonlinear control system involving a maximal monotone map and with a priori feedback. We assume that the control constraint multifunction $U(t,x)$ is nonconvex valued and only lsc in the $x \in \mathbb{R}^{N}$ variable. Using the Q-regularization (in the sense of Cesari) of $U(t,\cdot )$, we introduce a relaxed system. We show that this relaxation process is admissible.

Separation conditions on controlled Moran constructions

2017

It is well known that the open set condition and the positivity of the $t$-dimensional Hausdorff measure are equivalent on self-similar sets, where $t$ is the zero of the topological pressure. We prove an analogous result for a class of Moran constructions and we study different kinds of Moran constructions with this respect.

Correspondence between some metabelian varieties and left nilpotent varieties

2021

Abstract In the class of left nilpotent algebras of index two it was proved that there are no varieties of fractional polynomial growth ≈ n α with 1 α 2 and 2 α 3 instead it was established the existence of a variety of fractional polynomial growth with α = 7 2 . In this paper we investigate similar problems for varieties of commutative or anticommutative metabelian algebras. We construct a correspondence between left nilpotent algebras of index two and commutative metabelian algebras or anticommutative metabelian algebras and we prove that the codimensions sequences of the corresponding algebras coincide up to a constant. This allows us to transfer the above results concerning varieties of…
