Artikkeli tarkastelee zombikuvakirjojen tapoja käsitellä zombeissa ruumiillistuvaa rumaa ja väkivaltaista kuolemaa. Se keskittyy erityisesti tapoihin, joilla zombeihin liittyviä pelkoja pyritään kuvakirjoissa hallitsemaan. In the year 1903 Manuel de Montoliu published the first Catalan version, in prose and poetry, of "La Vida Nova", which meant an important stage within the history of pre-Raphaelitism and modernism in Catalonia. In this article the first Dantesque influences in the poetic production of the translator will be detected, the stage of preparation and of presentation of the text will be analysed and, finally, the article will study the progressions that the exegesis of Dante's work determines in Montoliu's thought. Synergistic cytotoxic interactions between sodium butyrate, MG132 and camptothecin in human retinoblastoma Y79 cells.

This paper studies the effects caused in human retinoblastoma Y79 cells by treatment with combinations of sodium butyrate, the inhibitor of topoisomerase I camptothecin and the inhibitor of 26S proteasome MG132. The combination of sodium butyrate and camptothecin resulted in a strong synergistic cytotoxicity, as revealed by combination indices of 0.77 and 0.52 calculated at IC(50) and IC(75). Synergistic interactions were also demonstrated for combinations of sodium butyrate and MG132, camptothecin and MG132 and for a combination of all three compounds. New orbital ephemerides for the dipping source 4U 1323-619: Constraining the distance to the source

4U 1323-619 is a low mass X-ray binary system that shows type I X-ray bursts and dips. The most accurate estimation of the orbital period is 2.941923(36) hrs and a distance from the source that is lower than 11 kpc has been proposed. We aim to obtain the orbital ephemeris, the orbital period of the system, as well as its derivative to compare the observed luminosity with that predicted by the theory of secular evolution. We took the advantage of about 26 years of X-ray data and grouped the selected observations when close in time. Oxfordissa pidettiin 17.–19. syyskuuta kuluvan vuoden merkittävin magian, esoteeristen alojen ja taikauskon tutkimuksen kansainvälinen konferenssi Living in a Magical World: Inner Lives, 1300–1900. Samaan aikaan Oxfordin Ashmolean Museumissa pyörii yhteistyössä konferenssijärjestäjien kanssa kuratoitu näyttely Spellbound. Magic, Ritual, Witchcraft (31.8.2018 – 6.1.2019), jossa on esillä laaja valikoima magian ja taikauskon historiaa keskiajalta 1900-luvulle. Austin Osman Spare (1886–1956) oli englantilainen okkultisti ja kuvataiteilija, joka kehitti uudenlaisen maagisen monogrammin luomisen tekniikan. Spare otti vaikutteita antiikista ja keskiajalta juontuvasta maagisten merkkien perinteestä, jonka keskeisiä tekstejä ovat olleet H.
