May Measurement Month 2018 : an analysis of blood pressure screening campaign results from Poland

Abstract Hypertension remains the most important cardiovascular risk factor in Poland. May Measurement Month is a global initiative organized by the International Society of Hypertension aimed at raising awareness of hypertension and the need for blood pressure (BP) screening and demonstrating the potential of the opportunistic BP measurements. An opportunistic cross-sectional survey of volunteers aged ≥18 was carried out in 146 sites in May 2018. Blood pressure was measured in 6450 subjects (mean age: 41 ± 15 years; 59% females). Ecological correlates of Spanish adolescents’ physical activity during physical education classes

The public health benefit of school physical education (PE) depends in large part on physical activity (PA) provided during class. According to the literature, PE has a valuable role in public health, and PA levels during PE classes depend on a wide range of factors. The main objective of this study, based on ecological models of behaviour, was to analyse what personal, psychosocial and environmental factors were associated with moderate to vigorous PA (MVPA) during PE lessons. Positive Effect of Steroids in Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome

We present a case of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome with severe clinical manifestation. Apart from initial aphasia, hemiparesis, and a generalized seizure, the patient had a prolonged loss of consciousness. Although blood pressure was normalized, the clinical status deteriorated continuously. After adding steroids to the therapy, the patient recovered rapidly, suggesting that this could have been a useful therapeutic approach. Even the vasogenic edema in the cerebral magnetic resonance imaging disappeared shortly within 6 days.

Comparison of elbow flexor isokinetic peak torque and fatigue index between men and women of different training level

The purpose of the study was to compare elbow flexion peak torque (PT) and fatigue index (FI) during isokinetic concentric contractions in men and women with different training levels. Sixty-eight young men and women were divided into four groups: resistance trained men (RTM), non-resistance trained men (NRTM), resistance trained women (RTW) and non- resistance trained women (NRTW). Participants performed two tests on an isokinetic dynamometer, one to evaluate PT and one to evaluate FI.
