V-containing MCM-41 and MCM-48 catalysts for the selective oxidation of propane in gas phase
2001
Well-organised V-containing MCM-41 and -48 (0.3‐1 wt.% of V content) have been synthesised by one-pot synthesis or by grafting using VOSO4 or VOCl3 as V sources, respectively. The samples before and after the calcination step have been characterised by several physicochemical techniques (Ar and N2 adsorption, XRD, diffuse reflectance-UV‐VIS (DR-UV‐VIS) spectroscopy, temperature-programmed reduction). It was found that V species in the as-prepared catalysts were mainly as vanadyl ions (VO 2C ), while highly dispersed V 5C species with tetrahedral coordination were observed in the calcined materials. The catalytic behaviour of the calcined materials for the gas phase oxidation of propane has …
Evaluation and synthesis of 7-arylhydroxymethyltriazolopyridines as potential cardiovascular agents
2002
7-Arylhydroxymethyltriazolopyridines 3a-c and 4a-d were synthesized by regioselective lithiation of [1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridines 1 and 2 and subsequent trapping of the 7-lithioderivatives formed using aryl aldehydes as electrophiles. The structural relationship between compounds 3a-c and 4a-d and arylethanolamines suggested their consideration as potential cardiovascular agents. A preliminary evaluation as vascular smooth muscle relaxants was carried out. These compounds did not act as α1-adrenoceptor antagonists and were unable to block calcium entry through voltage-dependent calcium channels. Synthesis of novel polypyridylcarbonylpyridines from triazolopyridines. Building blocks in supramolecular chemistry
2009
The synthesis from triazolopyridines 1, of novel triazolopyridylcarbonylpyridylcarbonyltriazolopyridines (TPyCOPyCOTPy) (tpcpctp) 7, and polypyridylcarbonylpyridines (pPyCOPy) (ppcp) 14, building blocks in supramolecular chemistry, is described. These compounds are interesting polynitrogenated ligands as potential molecular sensors, new magnetic materials, single molecular magnets, or in the emerging science of nanomaterials. Guanxi and social capital: Networking among women managers in China and Finland
2014
Considering that women are still under-represented in management, researchers have claimed that networking is an important career management tool for women. This study aims to empirically explore how women managers benefit from social networks in the information technology (IT) field in China and Finland. Guanxi, an Eastern term for social networking, has seldom been studied in terms of gender and career, especially within cross-cultural research. Social capital is a Western term for social networks. Using questionnaires, in-depth interviews and interpretive analysis, we compare the composition and structure of social networks used by women managers within the information technology sector …
Percentile Curves for Multiple Physical Fitness Components Among Chinese Han Children and Adolescents Aged 7–18 Years From a National Survey Based on…
2022
Introduction: To develop sex- and age-specific percentile curves for seven physical fitness components for Chinese Han children and adolescents aged 7–18 years based on the total and the normal weight population using a nationally representative sample. Methods: A total of 214,228 Chinese Han children and adolescents aged 7–18 years old with all nutritional status and 161,999 with normal weight were examined. Seven physical fitness components [forced vital capacity (FVC), standing long jump (SLJ), 50-m dash, sit-and-reach (SR), grip strength (GS), body muscle strength (BMS), and endurance running (ER)] were measured, and percentile curves for each physical fitness component at the 20th, 40th…
Lipid Nanocarriers-Loaded Nanocomposite as a Suitable Platform to Release Antibacterial and Antioxidant Agents for Immediate Dental Implant Placement…
2021
Immediate implant placement is a single-stage restorative approach for missing teeth widely used to overcome the ridge remodeling process occurring after dental extractions. The success of this procedure relies on opportune osseointegration in the surrounding tissues. To support this process, a multifunctional nanocomposite, to be applied in the fresh post-extraction socket, was here designed, prepared, and characterized. This formulation consists of quercetin (QRC)-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) entrapped in a chitosan-based solid matrix containing ciprofloxacin (CPX). QRC-NLCs were prepared by homogenization followed by high-frequency sonication, and thereafter this dispersio…

Chemical Composition and Antimicrobial Activity of the Essential Oils from Three Chemotypes of Origanum vulgare L. ssp. hirtum (Link) Ietswaart Growi…
2009
Essential oils obtained from inflorescences of three Origanum vulgare L.ssp. hirtum (Link) Ietswaart samples, growing wild in different locations in Campania (Southern Italy), were analysed. Three chemotypes were found: the first, with a prevalence of carvacrol/thymol; the second, characterized by the prevalence of thymol/alpha-terpineol; the third, featuring a prevalence of linalyl acetate and linalool. This chemical study attempts to provide a contribution in shedding light on the relationship between chemical composition and biotypes and/or chemotypes in Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum. The essential oils were also evaluated for their antibacterial activity against 10 selected microorganism…
Chemical composition and phytotoxic effects of essential oils of Salvia hierosolymitana Boiss. and Salvia multicaulis Vahl. var. simplicifolia Boiss.…
2009
The chemical composition of the essential oils of S. hierosolymitana Boiss. and S. multicaulis Vahl. var. simplicifolia Boiss. collected in Lebanon was studied by means of GC and GC-MS analysis. In all 115 compounds were identified: 82 for S hierosolymitana and 72 for S. multicaulis var. simplicifolia. The presence of carbonylic compounds (17%) characterizes the oil from S. hierosolymitana, while S. multicaulis var. simplicifolia oil is rich of monoterpenes (34.5%) and sesquiterpenes (46.9%). The effects of the essential oils on germination and initial radical elongation of Raphanus sativus L. (radish) and Lepidium sativum L. (garden cress) were studied, indicating in a different activity a…

2014
Published version of an article from the journal:The Open Spectroscopy Journa. Also available from the publisher:http://dx.doi.org/10.2174/1874383801004010041. Open Access Isomerisation kinetics of the 9c11t and 10t12c Conjugated Linoleic Acids (CLA) in triaclglycerols at isothermal conditions (250, 280 and 325oC) has been studied by infrared spectroscopy. Fifteen micro liter portions of the glycerides were placed in micro glass ampoules and sealed under nitrogen. Several glass tubes containing the same triacylglycerols were then subjected to thermal treatment. The glass tubes were removed at regular time intervals, cut open, and a part of the contents in each glass tube analysed by infrare…
