First Observation of Top Quark Production in the Forward Region

Top quark production in the forward region in proton-proton collisions is observed for the first time. The W + b final state with W → μν is reconstructed using muons with a transverse momentum, p[subscript T], larger than 25 GeV in the pseudorapidity range 2.0 20 GeV. The results are based on data corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1.0 and 2.0 fb[superscript -1] collected at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV by LHCb. The inclusive top quark production cross sections in the fiducial region are σ(top)[7 TeV] = 239 ± 53(stat) ± 33(syst) ± 24(theory) fb, σ(top)[8 TeV] = 289 ± 43(stat) ± 40(syst) ± 29(theory) fb.These results, along with the observed differential yields and c…
Cross-section-constrained top-quark mass measurement from dilepton events at the tevatron

We report the first top quark mass measurement that uses a cross section constraint to improve the mass determination. This measurement is made with a dilepton $t\bar{t}$ event sample collected with the CDF II detector. From a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.2 fb$^{-1}$, we measure a top quark mass of $\rm{170.7^{+4.2}_{-3.9}(stat)\pm2.6(syst)}$ $\rm{\pm2.4(theory) GeV/{\it{c}}^{2}}$. The measurement without the cross section constraint results in a top quark mass of $\rm{169.7^{+5.2}_{-4.9}(stat)\pm3.1(syst) GeV/{\it{c}}^{2}}$.

AbstractThis paper studies a simultaneous vehicle and crew routing and scheduling problem arising in long-distance road transport in Europe: Pickup-and-delivery requests have to be fulfilled over a multi-period planning horizon by a heterogeneous fleet of trucks and drivers. Typically, in the vehicle routing literature, a fixed assignment of a driver to a truck is assumed. In our approach, we abandon this assumption and allow truck/driver changes at geographically dispersed relay stations. In this study, the behavior factor of a particular type of mixed masonry-reinforced concrete buildings in Lisbon is estimated. Analysis of β2-agonists in cattle hair samples using a rapid UHPLC–ESI–MS/MS method

A simple and efficient method was developed for simultaneous analysis of five illegal residual β2-agonists in cattle hair. β2-Agonists were quantified by ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionisation tandem mass spectrometry operating in positive multiple-reaction monitoring mode. The method was validated as quantitative confirmatory method according to the EU Decision 2002/657/EC: instrumental linearity, specificity, precision, recovery, decision limit (CCα) and detection capability (CCβ) were evaluated.
