We consider the 1-harmonic flow of maps from a bounded domain into a submanifold of a Euclidean space, i.e. the gradient flow of the total variation functional restricted to maps taking values in the manifold. We restrict ourselves to Lipschitz initial data. We prove uniqueness and, in the case of a convex domain, local existence of solutions to the flow equations. If the target manifold has non-positive sectional curvature or in the case that the datum is small, solutions are shown to exist globally and to become constant in finite time. A decisive step in cell-biomaterial interaction is represented by the adsorption of proteins at the interface, whose fine control may be useful to trigger proper cell response. To this purpose, we can selectively control protein adsorption on biomaterials by means of aptamers. Aptamers selected to recognize fibronectin dramatically enhance chitosan ability to promote cell proliferation and adhesion, but the underlying biological mechanism remains unknown. We supposed that aptamers contributed to ameliorate the adsorption of fibronectin in an advantageous geometrical conformation for cells, thus regulating their morphology by the proper activation of the integrin-mediated pathway. The Constitutional Court rejects the jurisprudential line of the High Court of Justice of Madrid regarding the broadening of the concept of public policy and prevents the review of the merits of the case through the action for annulment.
The Windy clustered prize-collecting arc-routing problem

This paper introduces the windy clustered prize-collecting arc-routing problem. It is an arc-routing problem where each demand edge is associated with a profit that is collected once if the edge is serviced, independent of the number of times the edge is traversed. It is further required that if a demand edge is serviced, then all the demand edges of its component are also serviced. A mathematical programming formulation is given and some polyhedral results including several facet-defining and valid inequalities are presented. The separation problem for the different families of inequalities is studied. Numerical results from computational experiments are analyzed. © 2011 INFORMS.

ssRNS bakteriofāgu apvalka proteīnu veidotās vīrusveidīgās daļiņas tiek veiksmīgi izmantotas vakcīnu dizainā savu imunogēno īpašību un spējas prezentēt patogēnu epitopus. Bakalaura darbā tika pētīta trīs jaunu ssRNS bakteriofāgu apvalka proteīnu kovalento dimēru spēja pašsavākties imunogēnās himērās VLP. Jau iepriekš izveidoto apvalka proteīnu kovalento dimēru sekvenču N- vai C- galam ģenētiski pievienoja Laimas slimības izraisītājas Borrelia burgdorferi proteīna BB0689 sekvenci. Iegūtajiem sešiem konstruktiem tika pārbaudīta himērā proteīna producēšanās un šķīdība. Šķīstošus proteīnus attīrīja ar gelfiltrāciju. VLP izveidošanos pārbaudīja elektronu mikroskopā.
