Contemporary performance art by Helena Walsh: embodiment as empowerment in an Irish context

Ever since the 1970s, performance artists have used their bodies as a means to question the patriarchal control of women. In Ireland, where the body is at the center of debates over contraception, abortion and divorce, feminist performance art has proved particularly pertinent to substitute the real experiential body to the allegorical or fetishized female body. Through her performances, Helena Walsh incites the viewers to respond to the effect of ideology on the physical body. Embodiment, impersonation and incorporation make the body explicit and reopen historical wounds.
Varieties Generated by Certain Models of Reversible Finite Automata

Reversible finite automata with halting states (RFA) were first considered by Ambainis and Freivalds to facilitate the research of Kondacs-Watrous quantum finite automata. In this paper we consider some of the algebraic properties of RFA, namely the varieties these automata generate. Consequently, we obtain a characterization of the boolean closure of the classes of languages recognized by these models.

Science and law in the time of cholera: the mystery of the biscuits in Torroja (1865)

By focussing on a case of collective poisoning in 1865, four features of forensic cultures are analysed: technologies for detection, authorized voices, regulations in action and the predominant social anxieties. Local newspapers and archival documents kept in the medical academies of Barcelona and Madrid are analysed. The analysis shows the tensions between various types of proof employed in legal medicine and the ambiguities between epidemic diseases and poisoning accidents. In the first section, I review the fears caused by the cholera epidemic in 1865, which was the first explanation of the accident. El presente texto analiza la función de la producción de imágenes (fotográficas, pictóricas, cinematográficas, arquitectónicas) en la mitología franquista que se refiere a la guerra civil. El Alcázar de Toledo fue un escenario emblemático de la guerra, un lugar de memoria por su resistencia, pero también un edificio aureolado de historia. Summary In [6] partial graph mappings were formalized in the Mizar system [3]. Such mappings map some vertices and edges of a graph to another while preserving adjacency. While this general approach is appropriate for the general form of (multidi)graphs as introduced in [7], a more specialized version for graphs without parallel edges seems convenient. As such, partial vertex mappings preserving adjacency between the mapped verticed are formalized here.
